Duties and Responsibilities

The UN Health Care Center has the responsibility to provide both core and non-core services to all UN staff and their eligible dependents based in Ethiopia. This responsibility includes provision of support to staff and dependents during the occurrence of different disasters and pandemics, and processing MEDEVAC among other staff well-being activities. The present ToR is intended to specify the type of internship services required and guide the incumbents of the functions on the dispensation of the duties at UNHCC according to the organization’s rules and regulations from the health standpoint of view. The Intern will be working in the Preventive Health and Wellness Unit, UN Health Care Center in Addis Ababa Ethiopia duty station. The Intern will perform the following duties and Responsibilities: 1.Coordinate UNHCC Health Promotion Activities • Coordinate with the different stakeholders to organize the Adolescent Life Skills education program in august 2025 • Coordinate with the wellness champions to coordinate Diabetes wellness week 2nd and 3rd week of November 2025 2.Produce UNHCC Bimonthly Newsletters • Laise with the different units in UNHCC and ensure publication of UNHCC Bimonthly E-news letter according to WHO health Days • Ensure that all UNHCC health promotion events are broadcasted through different media • Ensure timely distribution of publications to relevant stakeholders. • Help develop outreach materials and educational resources for community engagement. • Create Social Media Page for UNHCC 3.Food Safety Coordination • Coordinate the food safety team to Annually inspect cafeterias in the UNECA compound and also respond to adhoc requests • Document findings and report any issues to the relevant authorities. 4.Infection Prevention and Control Activities • Collect IPC Resources from WHO Program • Collect all IPC related SOPs from UNHCC staff and compile in one document • Organize IPC Training for relevant UNHCC Staff 5.Additional Administrative Duties • Follow up on actionable items from Compound advisory committee meeting related to UNHCC • Disseminate DHMOSH Clinical Pathways as well as audit recommendations to all UNHCC clinicians • Support the planning and execution of public health programs and initiatives. 6.Monitoring and Evaluation • Assist in monitoring program activities and outcomes. • Contribute to the preparation of reports and presentations. • Run UNHCC Client satisfaction survey Competencies Communication: Speaks and writes clearly and effectively. Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher in Public Health); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent); We seek candidates with relevant coursework in public health, social sciences, or a related field. No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Your training, education, advance course work or skills should benefit the United Nations during your internship.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship programme, fluency in oral and written English is required; and knowledge of French is desirable.
