About NRC:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental humanitarian organization with 75 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. The Norwegian Refugee Council has approximately 6000 committed and competent employees involved in projects across four continents. NRC runs the world's largest standby roster, NORCAP, with 650 professionals ready to be deployed on 72 hours notice when a crisis occurs.

NRC in the Islamic Republic of Iran:

NRC started operations in Iran in 2012. We currently deliver humanitarian assistance in 10 provinces in Education, Food Security and livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter construction, as well as Information, Counseling, and Legal Assistance (ICLA). We co-lead several technical inter-agency working groups and provide capacity building to humanitarian partners in the country. Next to our programs, NRC Iran also built an advocacy unit to develop joint messages and initiatives among INGOs to improve the rights of the displaced. Following several recent breakthroughs, NRC Iran is scaling up substantially its activities in support of the Government of Iran's efforts towards an estimated 3,6 million Afghans residing in the country and is expanding its programme unit.

Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the assistant position is to assist in the day-to-day implementation of the support function’s responsibilities.

The following is a brief description of the role.

Generic responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  • Manage the workload of assessment across all Core Competencies (CCs), conduct assessment and manage the overall assessment processes, including data management, at the Area Office level.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  • Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.

Specific responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section should be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.

  • Planning and prioritizing the work of the IP unit, assigned to conduct assessments to CC technical assistant, in agreement with their line managers, the CC Coordinators and IP Officer
  • Conduct quality check on data available, regularly revise the scoring system and referral to different CCs.
  • Working as the Contact point for IPFT on operational issues for the area (Internally and Externally)
  • Conduct holistic assessments and referring cases to support more effective and integrated programming and advocacy.
  • Prepare Interview lists (CVAT and RNA) and coordination of all interviews in the area.
  • Capacity building for external case workers (if any) and partners to conduct interviews.
  • Maintain a good understanding of NRC programming in the area.

What we offer: Contract: 3 month probation with possibility of extension Salary: based on NRC grade structure-This position is grade 4 of the organizational grading and structure Duty Station: Iran-Tehran with some field visit
