How can you make a difference?

The Country Office of Guatemala in the LAC Region is in the process of consolidating, streamlining and expanding existing innovations, as well as scaling-up U-Report Guatemala. Therefore, Guatemala CO requires the expertise of an Innovation Officer to provide technical support to Education, Child Protection and Health and Nutrition Teams in the design and implementation of their innovation-related initiative, such as PRIMERO, Salud Inclusiva and Corazon contento, as well as in scaling-up U-Report Guatemala, in close coordination with LACRO and the Office of Innovation.

UNICEF is seeking to establish an Innovation Officer staff position.

Key functions:

  1. Operational and Project Management of U-Report Guatemala, RapidPro and other Innovation-focused Infrastructure and Services.

  2. Provide Support and Assistance with Strategic Relationships.

  3. Support Operational and Administrative Tasks.

  4. Assist in the Delivery of Results.

The Innovation function supports UNICEF´s mission and strategic plan by enabling programme and operational effectiveness and efficiency through innovation, partnerships and providing innovative solutions and services in a timely, secure and safe manner.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree preferably in Development or Design Studies or Graphic Design or Information and Communication Technology (ICT) or a related field.
  • A minimum of two years of professional experience supporting government and/or non-governmental organization programming, including training and capacity building or equivalent professional work experience at the national and international levels.
  • Experience in innovative use of technology for development, particularly in the areas of data access, visualization, mobile applications, and open source.
  • Previous experience in partnership development, community engagement and youth outreach.
  • Previous experience in the use and management of RapidPro (or similar) platforms.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is an asset.
