Serbia’s innovation ecosystem continues to be fluid and highly interesting for UNICEF. To sustain close links to the Serbian and sub-regional tech and innovation ecosystem, UNICEF seeks a consultant who is deeply involved with the various stakeholders to support exploring different entry-points for UNICEF. This will help advance the overall country office’s and global innovation agendas. In addition, the Private Sector Fundraising (PSFR) team within UNICEF Serbia requires continued support in ensuring cutting-edge innovative approaches to reaching new markets and target groups and continue innovating the approaches to fundraising in Serbia. The innovation consultant will be an important added value. The Innovation Consultant will also support the UNICEF Giga team by advising on blockchain related work, in particular around crypto regulations and NFTs.

Work Assignment Overview:

The Innovation Consultant will support the UNICEF Serbia country office to continue tapping into the emerging opportunities in the start-up ecosystem which is vibrant but largely untapped as of yet. In addition, the consultant will support the innovation task team as relevant and when needed.

The Innovation Consultant will also support the Private Sector Fundraising through supporting innovative fundraising solutions that are new to the UNICEF CO, particularly focusing on the tech and blockchain community.

Duration of the assignment: April 2023 - April 2024 (part-time, home-based)

Task description:

1. Explore partnership opportunities to propose corporate partnering with one of the local tech and blockchain companies, in the context of providing funding for UNICEF.
2. Attend and activation at some of the most important conferences involving tech and blockchain community in Serbia.
3. Organize a meeting with the representatives of the blockchain community (companies) in Serbia - with the idea to present to them what UNICEF is doing and to make an idea so that blockchain companies and UNICEF can collaborate.
4. Support the programme team with exploring entry-points for innovative partnerships.
5. Advice the Giga team on blockchain related work.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• Excellent English language skills, reading and writing.
• Experience from working with UNICEF or another UN agency in Serbia would be considered as an advantage.

1. Daily rate (all costs included, e.g. health insurance, pension, usage of mobile phone),
2. Daily travel allowance for overnight stay in Serbia (including accommodation),
3. Transportation costs per km (for travel within Serbia).

Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
