Org. Setting and Reporting The position is located in the Logistics Execution and Transportation Management, Solution Architecture Team 2 of Umoja in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance in New York. The Information Systems Officer (SAP Supply Chain Management and Finance) will report to the Senior Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Analyst and/or Information System Officer.

Responsibilities Reporting to ERP senior officers, the position supports the ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the suite of processes of the Umoja solution for Supply Chain Management [SCM] and Logistics Execution [LE], including in connection with all the cross points between SCM and Finance of the ERP solution; specifically in respect of Master Data, Materials Management, Inventory Management, Asset Management and Warehousing in connection with the related finance cross-points of ERP SAP Finance solution, such as Financial Accounting, Asset Accounting, Funds Management and other integration paths of the ERP’s architecture.

Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Officer (SAP SCM and Finance) is responsible for the following::

1. TECHNO-FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS AND SUPPORT functions in respect of the SCM-LE solutions:

  • Supports and contributes to the requirements gathering, feasibility and fit-gap analysis for both new functionality as well as with respect to proposed changes to the existing functionality of the Umoja solution.
  • Assists in the analysis, design, development and implementation of the ongoing continuous improvements work in respect of the suite of processes for Supply Chain Management in the Umoja solution in order to further optimize the richness of functionality as well as the efficiency of the workstreams processing.
  • Provides functional expertise and input to technical teams in respect of specific SCM processes, detailing structures (tables and fields) to be referenced for correct reporting of data across the Supply Chain Management area, including related integrated financial structures.
  • Documents test scripts, facilitates and executes various testing cycles including Functional Acceptance Testing, Product Integration Testing and User Verification Testing.

2. FINANCE CROSS-POINTS AND INTEGRATION PATHS pertaining to the SCM workstreams:

  • Supports the analysis of integration between suite of SCM-LE processes and solutions and the related financial modules (including Financial Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting and Funds Management).
  • Supports the analysis, design, configuration and implementation of financial posting schemas with respect to SCM-LE and the related transactional data flows.
  • Performs impact assessments on financial integration with respect to proposed changes to the SCM-LE functionality for implementation of the on-going continuous improvement work.

3. PRODUCTION SUPPORT and REPORTING on the suite of SCM processes:

  • Monitors and provides functional expertise to resolve escalated production support issues in respect of the suite of SCM-LE operations.
  • Works with technical focal points to debug incidents, where required, as part of root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Works with business and ERP financial focal points to resolve related issues reported across suite of SCM-LE operations.
  • Searches for relevant SAP repositories in connection with potential code corrections (SAP Notes) such as in connection with characteristics of reported issues, coordinates implementation of same with technical focal points and tests to verify resolution.
  • Logs incidents with SAP for technical errors and maintains dialogue with SAP through to resolution.
  • Works with infrastructure focal points and integrated teams with respect to upgrades, disaster recovery exercises and system build/refreshes.

4. OTHERS:

  • Technical documentation: Develops detailed system and other functional specifications and user documentation for major systems, particulary with respect to the configuration of new SCM LE suite functionality and related integrated settings between SCM components and core ECC supply chain settings and master data including integration points with financial modules and processes.
  • User manuals and assistance to users: Provides specialized advice to users, analyzing business requirements and applying functional expertise to translate these into standard/custom solutions.

    Competencies Professionalism: Knowledge of analysis, design, configuration, development and maintenance of SAP SCM modules. Knowledge of implementing SAP SCM solutions integrated with SAP Public Sector modules (Funds Management). Knowledge of systemic processes of the Umoja SCM solution providing financial data and integrating with Financial Accounting, Fixed Asset Accounting and Funds Management are operating correctly. Knowledge of data requirement servicing in an effective manner to assure effective Legal consolidation, Financial Statements and Financial reporting. Shows pride in work and in achievements. Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter. Is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results. Is motivated by professional rather than personal concerns. Shows persistence when faced with difficult problems or challenges; remains calm in stressful situations. Education Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in information systems, finance or related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Certification as a Chartered Accountant, Public Accountant or equivalent is desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of five years of experience in finance, accounting, budget, business administration or information systems management or related area is required. Experience in working with complex budgetary, finance and accounting operations in an ERP environment is required. Experience in audit and evaluation of financial systemic solutions is desirable. Experience in SAP implementations is desirable. Experience in Finance with a focus on Information Systems is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice This position is financed by Umoja funding. Extension of appointment will be subject to budgetary approval.
