This is a P-2 contract. This kind of contract is known as Professional and Director staff. It is normally internationally recruited only. It's a staff contract. It usually requires 2 years of experience, depending on education.

The salary for this job should be between 106,269 USD and 144,340 USD.

Org. Setting and Reporting

The International Trade Centre (ITC) mandate is: "Transforming trade. Changing lives." By enabling trade-led economic development, especially in the Global South, ITC enables small businesses to reach their potential and strengthens ecosystems for long-term impact. The Information Technology & Systems (IT&S) section under the Division of Programme Support provides information technology solutions to the entire organization. One of such is the Green & Inclusive Value Chains (GIVC) section. There are several digital/online solutions and methodologies in this unit for strategic and operational research, assessing national trade performance, trade competitiveness and linkages between trade and development prospects, among which is the Trade for Sustainable Development (T4SD) programme.

Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Chief IT&S, the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Officer and in close co-operation with business unit Head, T4SD and Chief, GIVC the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: • Participates in preparing user requirements and other technical specifications. • Assists in the design, development and installation of information systems. • Undertakes analysis of well-defined modules within the system, develop enhancements and new features to existing systems; may design and implement small, stand-alone systems as needed (e.g. to meet individual user requirements). • Undertakes rigorous testing and proving of applications software. • Maintains assigned portions of systems, providing operational support for system’s applications, analyzing and implementing system changes/upgrades, etc. • Participates in developing and maintaining Information Systems project plans, schedules, and budgets. Assists in identifying appropriate human and technical resources to complete the project, assists in assuring that deviations from project schedule are addressed and communicated, assists in developing timely project status reports, monitoring project risk factors, escalating project issues, and providing Quality Assurance for all project deliverables. • Writes and develops programs to interface with existing systems. • Ensures data security and integrity. • Participates in developing disaster recovery plans. • Prepares, updates and maintains system’s documentation and related technical/procedural manuals. • Assists in procurements, including conducting needs assessments and benchmarks, preparing technical specifications and evaluation criteria. • Assists in the set-up and monitoring of software performance measures. • Participates in Helpdesk support services. • Participates in facilitating communications between ITSD and its clients for good client relations and be responsible for small to medium client accounts. • Assists in the development of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between the client and ITSD, for either specific IT services or general technology support, including any charge back mechanisms. • Advises users on the most suitable hardware and software for different tasks; maintains and enhances software. • Drafts training materials and conducts training sessions and demonstrations of systems for users. • Participates with senior staff in assessing and testing new technology. • Performs ad hoc duties as required. • May provide guidance to new/junior staff. • Contributes to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provides draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.

Education

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, mathematics, statistics or related field. A first level university degree in the above subjects in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.

Job - Specific Qualification

Successful completion of degree and/or non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years (4 years with a first level degree) of recent and relevant experience in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of modern web applications is required. One year or more experience in client-facing roles, with stakeholders from both public and private sectors is desirable. Experience with JavaScript programming language and patterns including modern backend and frontend frameworks like Angular, NodeJS, NestJS is desirable Experience with NoSQL document databases is desirable. One year or more of experience designing, developing and implementing web applications supporting or enabling environmental and/or social sustainability, preferably in multi-stakeholder settings is desirable. Experience with rapid prototyping and UI/UX design using modern, AI-backed tools like Figma, and their translation to modern web applications is desirable. Experience with DevOps and cloud infrastructure practices, including containerization (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based application deployment, is desirable
