Org. Setting and Reporting The mandate of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) is to promote inclusive economic, social and environmental development and support regional cooperation and integration in the Asian and Pacific region. ESCAP's role as a regional development arm of the United Nations Secretariat is to support its membership, through its analytical, normative and technical cooperation, to respond to the development priorities and changing needs of the Asian and Pacific region.

The Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) provides ICT services to ESCAP and other agencies in the United Nations compound in Bangkok, Subregional Offices, and Regional Institutes in Asia and the Pacific This position is located in Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) of Division of Administration.

Responsibilities - Under the direct supervision of the Chief, ICT Service Desk Unit and overall supervision of the Chief, Information Management, Communications and Technology Section (IMCTS) the incumbent is required to perform the following functions: - Responsible for IT helpdesk on call and on-site support (Tier 1 support). - Act as escalation point (Tier 2 support) on some areas of expertise such as mobile phone related, asset management related, UN CRM platform (iNeed) related, and reporting related request/issue. - Responsible for managing and organizing IT asset and inventory management. - Responsible for managing and preparing operational data reports and any ad-hoc reports as requested by Direct Manager - Coaching and knowledge transferring to new staff and junior staff. - Organizing training sessions to team members, users and stakeholders on responsible areas when necessary. - Provide guidance to new/junior staff. - Perform ad hoc and/or other related duties as and when required.

Education Completion of high school or equivalent diploma, with combination of certification and experience in a relevant area is required. University degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or other related field is highly desirable.

Work Experience A minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience (or one year of relevant experience if graduated with a Bachelor's degree) in Information and Communications Technology or a related area is required.

At least 2 years hands-on on IT support (including both 1st and 2nd tier support) is required.

Experience working in a Multi-National Company (MNC) or an international organization is highly desirable.

Knowledge of Windows 10, Office 365, Oracle Siebel Helpdesk Agent Application, Power BI or Oracle BI is highly desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Thai language is highly desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment Qualified applicants may be evaluated through a competency-based interview and/or other assessment methods.

Special Notice Appointment against this post is on a local basis; candidates shall be recruited in the country or within commuting distance of the ESCAP office, irrespective of nationality and length of time the candidate may have been in the country. If no suitable local candidate is identified, candidates located elsewhere may be considered. The candidate is responsible for any expenses incurred in taking the relevant examinations at the duty station, and of any costs related to traveling and relocating to the duty station in the event of an employment offer.

The initial appointment is for a period of one year. Extension of appointment is subject to satisfactory performance and continued availability of the post.

Must have passed the United Nations Global General Service Test (GGST) at Headquarters or an equivalent locally-administered test at Offices Away from Headquarters.
