Org. Setting and Reporting

This position is located in the United Nations Office of Geneva (UNOG), Division of Administration (DoA), Information and Communication Technologies Service (ICTS). The incumbent typically reports to the Chief of Managed Desktop Environment (MDE) Unit.

Responsibilities

Within delegated authority, the Information Systems Assistant will be responsible for the following duties: • Acts as focal point for receipt and processing of user requests. • Assists in the onboarding and offboarding of users of the various internal customers managed by MDE. • Verifies the successful completion of all tickets generated to other services, if necessary interfacing with the service providers to resolve any problems. • Checks the consistency of data against the external systems to which MDE is connected (billing, active directory, etc.) • Logs all actions in the automated tracking system, including site survey information, steps taken to resolve problem or to complete task, problems encountered, current status, etc. Then attempts to resolve as many problem calls or service requests on initial contact • Supports senior staff in accordance with established procedures;; assists in the preparation of technical and user documentation, as well as in the production of training materials. • Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required. • Conducts research on new technologies as requested; keeps abreast of developments in the field; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies. • Performs other related duties as required.

Work Experience

At least 5 years of experience in information systems analysis and programming, systems administration and maintenance, software development, technical writing or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to three (3) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher. Experience with online ticketing system is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Administrative Tools (System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM)(SCCM), Active Directory, Print Management and etc.) is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Office 365 Products and their support is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Power Automate and Power BI is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable.

Assessment

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
