Org. Setting and Reporting This position is located in the Enterprise Operations Section (EOS) of the Information Management Systems Service in the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF), Geneva office. EOS is responsible for the provision of Information and Communication Technology Services, such as website, network maintenance, desktop management, and application support. The Team Assistant reports to the Information Systems Officer in EOS.

Responsibilities Under the overall guidance of the Chief of ICT Infrastructure Unit, the incumbent performs following functions: •Acts as focal point for receipt and processing of user requests, answering user support issues directly or escalating to more senior staff as appropriate. •Maintains regular contact with users and technical staff in user offices and provides support as required. •Provides basic technical support on relevant hardware, software and systems applications in the assigned area. •Installs application systems software and hardware according to specifications. •Provides basic support in the planning, specification, design, development, implementation and maintenance of customized application software systems; works with senior IT staff on the definition and specification of requirements; builds, tests and modifies prototype application software based on detailed instructions; installs and maintains software systems. •Conducts research on new technologies as requested; assists in testing and evaluating new products and technologies. •Performs a wide range of office support and administrative functions. •Performs other related duties as required.

Good technical skills, ability to participate in development and maintenance of web applications, provide user support. Ability to acquire new software in an expeditious manner. Education High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Work Experience A minimum of three years of experience in information systems support, systems administration and maintenance or related area is required. Experience in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) or ISO/IEC 20000 is desirable. Experience in user provisioning and customer support for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, English or French and knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by a competency-based interview.

This positions is available until 31 December 2021 with the possibility of extension, which is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of the funds. The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund (UNJSPF) is an independent inter-agency body established by the United Nations General Assembly.

The Pension Fund pays benefits in 17 currencies to more than 70,000 beneficiaries who reside in 190 countries, and services more than 130,000 participants who work in the 25 Member Organizations of the Pension Fund.

The applicable human resources procedures are governed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Fund and the UN Secretariat.

Any candidate from a member organization of the UNJSPF applying for this post is considered as an internal candidate provided he/she has been appointed through the appointment and promotion procedures applicable in his/her respective organization.

Staff members are subject to the authority of the Secretary-General and to assignment by him or her. In this context, all staff are expected to move periodically to new functions in their careers in accordance with established rules and procedures.
