The Information Security Officer (Cybersecurity) is responsible to the Head, Information Security Office.

Responsibilities- Assists the Head of the Information Security Office in the implementation of the cybersecurity strategy and the execution of procurement activities.

- Contributes to the development and reviews of policies and procedures in the area of cybersecurity, disaster recovery and business continuity.

- Manages projects involving security threat studies, systems analysis, design, development, and implementation of new, moderately complex systems to secure the information of the Agency; provides Information security support to projects and activities of the Agency.

- Provides support in conducting digital forensic investigations and other related activities that may arise during security incident response activities.

- Keeps abreast of new developments and trends regarding enhancing information security technology through constant learning and researching; researches, analyzes and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations for their deployment.

- Monitors and audits information security controls while measuring results and responding to new risks. Gathers, develops and organizes evidence for security audits.

- Executes day-to-day cybersecurity operations tasks and takes care of related projects, making sure they meet objectives.

- Provides guidance to and may oversee the work of consultants and interns.

- Facilitates communications between Information Management and Technology Department (IMTD) and other key internal/external stakeholders, on matters related to information security.

Education Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution, in computer science, information management systems, computer engineering or another related discipline.

Job - Specific Qualification Relevant information security certification, such as Certified Information Security Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified Information Security Systems Professional or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certificates is required.

Work Experience A minimum of five years of progressively responsible relevant experience in IT and Telecommunications security and risk management is required

At least two years of hands-on experience in implementing technology solutions for identity and access management, encryption, vulnerability management, intrusion monitoring, detection and response is required

Unless already serving as an international staff member in the UN Common System, a candidate for an international post must have at least two continuous years of relevant international experience outside UNRWA, and outside the country(s) of which the candidate is a national or holds citizenship, a passport, or a national identity number is required

Relevant information security certification, such as Certified Information Security Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, Certified Information Security Systems Professional or Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) certificates is required.

Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) from an accredited educational institution, in computer science, information management systems, computer engineering or another related discipline is required.

Languages Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

Assessment Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Special Notice Type of Contract and duration: 2 years, with the possibility of further extension.

The incumbent may be required to work beyond normal working hours and to travel within the areas of operations in the Middle East.
