• Authoritative, comprehensive information and analysis on humanitarian needs and response. • Information products, including infographics, snapshots, dashboards, and maps, are produced in a timely manner and to the highest quality in accordance with corporate policies, guidelines and standards. • Content on OCHA hosted websites, namely HR.Info and HDX, is uploaded in a timely manner and with complete metadata. • Systems and products support increased accountability of the humanitarian needs and to the affected populations. • The development of capacity through coaching, mentoring and formal on-the-job training, when working with (including supervising) national staff or (non-) governmental counterparts, including Implementing Partners (IPs). • Age, Gender and Diversity (AGD) perspective is systematically applied, integrated and documented in all activities throughout the assignment. • A final statement of achievements towards volunteerism for peace and development during the assignment, such as reporting on the number of volunteers mobilized, activities participated in and capacities developed.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Head of the Information Management Unit, based in Erbil, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks • Data Management and Analysis: Support the design, development and management of databases, spreadsheets and other data tools; understand and ensure the quality of high-value humanitarian data for accuracy, consistency and comparability; ensure that datasets are documented and accessible to all humanitarian partners through local and/or online services; support the evaluation and analysis of humanitarian needs through meaningful statistical techniques, including humanitarian needs overviews, secondary data reviews, and rapid assessments; support the management of platforms and tools that support data collection such as KoBoToolbox and Open Data Kit. • Data Visualization: Assist in the production and updating of information products such as reports, charts and infographics by turning data into graphical products to convey messages and a storyline; develop advocacy materials including posters, presentations and other visual materials; support the production and updating of high-quality map products and online services. • Content Management: Manage content on relevant web platforms, undertake quality control for the platform and ensure content is current, comprehensive and follows relevant metadata standards; work with external counterparts on related web platforms such as agency and cluster websites and OCHA managed platforms to facilitate cross-site search and interoperability. • Perform other related duties as required.

• Professional experience in information management, information systems, web management, data management, GIS and mapping, data visualization, or other related area, is required. • Competence in data collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting, is required. • Information management experience in emergency situations (complex emergency or natural disaster), is desirable. • Have affinity with or interest in humanitarian relief, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
As this is a national UNV assignment, the incumbent will be responsible for arranging his/her own housing and other living essentials. This position is based in Erbil, with travel required to other areas.
