This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Eligibility criteria

Minimum age: 22 years old. Applicants must be nationals of or legal residents in the country of assignment.

Description of task

  • Manage data depository through the newly established program data-base system for tracking the program progress and achievement based on the established performance parameters. This implies:

  • Collecting regular program data from field operation units and enter them in the database system;

  • Preparing regular reports – disaggregated by output/thematic area, geographic area, type and sex of beneficiaries - and share with management and technical units for update on status of progress;
  • Contributing to developing standards and procedures for access to data by CO staff and keep the system update and maintenance based on needs and priorities;

  • Provide timely and quality inputs for development of the Country Office Annual Planning, Monitoring and Reporting;

  • Ensure that the program database system is consistent with the Strategic Information System (SIS) and the Global Programming System (GPS) by means of performance measures (indicators and milestones); this implies regular review and check on the SIS and WP Progress Reports in the GPS to identify gaps for adjustment;
  • Provide rapid and accurate information on the program’s coverage, coordination and coherence to ensure consistency between the results achieved and the CP objectives and targets.
  • Provide Information Management services to support population data management activities including population estimation, information flows from established systems, movement tracking, standard-setting/promotion and dissemination

  • Provide Information Management support to needs assessments for all sectors/sub-sectors (e.g. health, protection, GBV, logistics, etc.) and provide Information Management support to needs assessments within UNFPA-led clusters while participating in joint/harmonized needs assessments with other partners/clusters. Support operational leads in making methodological decisions about how to conduct needs assessments.
  • Coordinate inter-agency information management activities at the all level and facilitate the creation of inter-agency relationships and opportunities for cooperation at the country-level within the region.
  • Supports knowledge building and knowledge sharing in the CO focusing on achievement of the following results:

  • Participation in the trainings for the operations/ projects staff on fund management, work plan management, M&E, etc.

  • Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice

  • Miscellaneous

  • Administrative support to organization of conferences, workshops, retreats

  • Carries out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Master degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

  • Advanced degree in economics, medicine, statistics, ICT, or other social sciences.

Required experience:

24 Months

Experience remark:

  • At least 2 years of experience with programs monitoring and evaluation or information management systems;

Language skills:

  • English(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge
  • Arabic(Mandatory), Level - Working Knowledge

Area of expertise:

Database design, administration and maintenance, Monitoring and evaluation

Area of expertise details:

  • Excellent computer knowledge of spreadsheet, oracle and other data processing software.
  • Good knowledge of English language – speaking and writing.
  • Initiative, sound judgment and ability to work in teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
  • Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.); email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
  • Self-motivated, ability to work with tight deadlines;
