You have:

  • Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Information Management or Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Three years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.
  • Fluency (Level C) in English and intermediate knowledge of French.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills.
  • General knowledge of development and humanitarian programmes, and the collation of data and information, information management best practices, techniques, and processes.

  1. BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

Help manage WFP CAR operational information activities and contribute to the presentation of WFP operations, to facilitate internal informed and timely decision making at all levels. The consultant will work in the team in charge of reporting, communications, and Government Partnerships.

  1. ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Partnerships Officer/Head of unit, the Consultant will be responsible for the following duties:

  1. Develop reporting and Operational Information Management (OIM) initiatives in the CO on WFP programmes.
  2. Proactively liaised with all operational units in Bangui and in the field to compile qualitative and quantitative information and write regular WFP reporting products including Country Brief, Executive Brief, CAR crisis updates, Situation reports, Talking points etc.
  3. Support the preparation of the Annual Country Report (ACR) for the annual reporting exercise in collaboration with the country office programme, monitoring & evaluation, logistics and resource management functions by coordinating to ensure coherence and quality of performance information.
  4. Prepare briefing documents for senior management level meetings with donors, and other strategic partners and high-level officials.
  5. Prepare donor specific reports and funding proposals for operations, with the guidance of the Government Partnerships Officer.
  6. Support projects and operational activities that maintain and develop government partnerships to maximise resources raised for the programme
  7. Work in collaboration with Communications Officer to ensure visibility for Country office operations and donor contributions.
  8. Prepare and provide regular information to donors on the strategy, design, relevance, and impact of programmes, to advocate the work of WFP.
  9. Ad-hoc support to the programme unit and senior management for the preparation and language editing of reports and concept notes.
  10. Other duties as required.

  11. QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education:

Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Information Management or Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or taining/courses.

Experience:

Three years or more of postgraduate professional experience in a relevant field of work, with a background and interest in international humanitarian development****.

Knowledge & Skills:

General knowledge of development and humanitarian programmes, and the collation of data and information, information management best practices, techniques, and processes. • Strong written and oral communication skills, including substantive analysis and report writing skills • Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly assimilate, UN/WFP specific processes and systems. Prior experience with the UN/WFP specific processes and systems would be an advantage

Languages:

Fluency (Level C) in English and intermediate knowledge of French.
