The current Ukrainian crisis had a significant impact on the lives of children and families in communities throughout the country. According to official statistics, around 1.2 million refugees have been registered in Poland. Around 50% of them are children under 18 years and around 75% of them are women and children. UNICEF has established an emergency response office in Poland and initiated a cooperation agreement with the national and municipality authorities and local NGOs to provide crisis support to the Ukrainian Refugees.

How can you make a difference?

This post is an ICT Officer which will carry out broad ICT functions and enable the provision of ICT solutions and services and assist in the delivery of results in the UNICEF Emergency Refugee Response in Poland.

Summary of the key functions, accountabilities and related duties or tasks include:

  1. Enable continuous operation of ICT infrastructure and accessibility to ICT solutions and services;
  2. Provide help, support and assist with capacity building and knowledge management;
  3. Support operational and administrative tasks;
  4. Assist in the delivery of results

  • Education - A university degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology management, business administration or related social science field is required.
  • Work Experience - A minimum of two years of professional experience in information technology management and business operations in a large international organization and/or corporation is required. Experience in a UN organization is an asset.
  • Technical competencies - Certification and/or proven experience in one of these several ICT technical competencies: ICT Project Management, Business Analytics, Information Security, ICT Audit and Risk Management, Telecommunications, Networks Information Security and Software Engineering and Programming
  • Language Requirements - Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Remarks:

This position is classified as fixed term and does not carry any expectancy of renewal and will not be converted to any other type of appointment. This is a national officer post and thus only nationals of Poland are eligible to apply.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason. Nationals of Poland who are selected for this post is considered locally recruited and will not be entitled to relocation allowances to assume the appointment.
