Infection Prevention and Control Specialist
Contract

Eligibility criteria
Minimum age: 25 years old. Nationals of the country of assignment are not eligible, except the assignments in Headquarters duty stations.
Description of task
Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of WHO IPC Team Lead or his/her designated mandated representative(s), the UN Volunteer Infection Prevention and Control Specialist will:
- Implement health worker’s protection strategy at country level
- Conduct IPC needs assessment at country level
- Conduct IPC needs assessment in high-risk facilities at all levels of the healthcare system, including public and private spaces, communities, traditional practices, and pharmacies.
- Increase standard and administrative precautions awareness at the health facility level.
- Strengthen capacity of health workers in charge on triage activities at the healthcare facility level.
- Support cascade training on COVID-19 Wash/IPC at sub-national levels.
- Monitor, report, and analyze data on healthcare-associated infections among health workers and patients.
- Contribute to the support for establishment and implementation of IPC measures in refugee camps, IDPs, and urban slums.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required degree level:
Bachelor degree or equivalent
Education - Additional Comments:
First level university degree in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, microbiology or epidemiology. Certified training in the area of IPC from an accredited/recognized institute*.
Desirable
Master’s level degree in public health or related field
Required experience:
60 Months
Experience remark:
At least five years of experience in developing, implementing and evaluating infection and prevention control policies, procedures and tools in low resource settings, and outbreaks and or health emergency response.
Related experience in managing resources and working effectively in a multi-stakeholder international environment including developing and promoting collaborative actions with national authorities.
Desirable
Previous experience with WHO, in UN organizations/agencies, international institutions, health cluster partners, humanitarian organizations or nongovernmental organizations, particularly in developing countries
Language skills:

- French(Optional), Level - Working Knowledge
Area of expertise:
Other health related experience, Public health, Emergency response, immediate relief operations, and post-conflict humanitarian aid operations
