Are you an experienced Infection Prevention and Control Nurse skilled in delivery of care in response to medical emergencies?

  • Hours: UK-Med Register role, no guarantee of any work, but if deployed work will be full-time

  • Remuneration: GBP £3,300 to GBP £3,600 gross per month (dependant on assignment and experience)

  • Duration: Register members who deploy will be offered fixed-term contracts. The duration will depend on the requirements of the response but most responses are between 4 and 12 weeks

  • Location: Internationally / any of the UK-Med response including Ukraine and or to various other locations.

About the role

We are seeking Infection Prevention and Control Specialist Nurses with previous experience working in humanitarian contexts. You will be able to make yourself available to travel and work internationally at short notice for a minimum of 4-6 weeks (longer availability is highly desirable) to join our register.

​​The Infection Prevention and Control (IPC Nurse) will be responsible for implementing and managing infection prevention and control programs to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and protect the health and well-being of individuals and communities affected by emergencies or crises.

The Nurse will ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control practices are followed, educate and train staff and communities on proper infection control measures, and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to prevent and respond to outbreaks effectively.

​The Nurse will manage multiple streams of work being implemented and act as a technical resource to support the activities related to the context, ensuring that best practice and global standards of patient care are implemented and maintained. They will play a central role in building the local capacity of any field staff (i.e. Ministry of Health or other NGOs), in areas related to the response, through training delivery.​

You must hold a current nursing license and be able to demonstrate your current and unconditional membership of a suitable registering organisation. You must hold specific qualifications / professional registrations in Nursing Science/Degree.

You will be determined, high performing, compassionate and collaborative, as well as being committed to learning and supporting others to learn. Language skills will be an advantage.
