UNICEF Nepal Country Office works in partnership with national and local governments, civil society, mass media and other development partners to advocate for child rights in Nepal. To pursue this intention, the Office develops a range of communication materials targeted at numerous audiences including government, civil society, businesses and the media. UNICEF would like to engage the services of photographers to provide visual documentation of UNICEF's work in Nepal including special events, and special assignments to remote areas, in order to produce communication and advocacy materials to be used by UNICEF’s internal and external partners across various platforms.

How can you make a difference?

With prior briefing for each assignment, the photographers are required to submit original high-quality photographs with succinct, edited and well-written captions for all images as per the UNICEF photography guideline. The photographers should be available at very short notice in case of emergencies such as flood, earthquake, etc. and may be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays, based on the requirements of the assignment.

Specific tasks:

• Provide photographic visual documentation of UNICEF's work in Nepal including special events, and special assignments to remote areas
• Develop succinct, edited and well-written captions for images as per the UNICEF photography guideline
• Ensure that UNICEF photography consent forms are signed by parents or guardians of children featured in the photos as per UNICEF guidelines.

Responsibilities of the photographer:

• The photographer will use their own equipment; cameras, microphones, software and other accessories that may be required for this task.
• The photographer will not give the photographs or any part thereof, to any third party without the written permission of UNICEF. All components will be a property of UNICEF, and the agency will not share the same with anyone else.
• The photographer will not put their own name or logo/emblem on the photographs. The only organization branding will be UNICEF if required.

Task.

• Submission of at least 20 selected pictures (including detailed captions) from each assignment.
• Number of photos to be submitted will be decided before the start of the assignment

The duration of the Long-Term Arrangement is 11.5 months, tentatively starting from 01 January 2023.

Minimum Qualifications required:

Diploma in communications, arts, media or any relevant field; with certificate in photography. .

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

• More than 5 years proven experience in photography for international organizations
• Excellent communication and working with people
• Previous working experience with UNICEF is strongly preferred
• Previous experience working with children and young people is preferred

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
