Contract

This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, Innovation

The UNICEF Nepal Country Office works in partnership with national and local governments, civil society, mass media and other development partners to advocate for child rights in Nepal. For this purpose, the Office develops a range of communication materials targeted at numerous audiences including children, families, government, civil society, business and the media.

UNICEF would like to engage the services of graphic designers/illustrators to develop creative, engaging and innovative visual content geared at the relevant audiences, for use in both digital and offline communication and advocacy materials. With prior briefing for each assignment, the designers/illustrators are expected to submit high-resolution visuals – including design files – with versions for use on online platforms and print, where required.

In addition, UNICEF is planning to conduct several art-workshops on different themes pertaining to child rights, as well as developing short instructional art videos. The objective is to build children’s skills in different artistic mediums and enable them to tell their stories through the arts. The designers/illustrators would be expected to facilitate these workshops and develop these videos, in collaboration with the NCO.

The graphic designers/illustrators should be available at short notice, depending on the urgency of the assignment, and may be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays.

How can you make a difference?

The overall objective of setting up this long-term arrangement is to facilitate and expedite the process by which UNICEF Nepal will hire the services of graphic designers/illustrators to provide audience-friendly visuals that help to communicate UNICEF’s work in Nepal, as well as giving children the necessary skills to express themselves through art.

  • Work in close coordination with Communications to facilitate (virtual/physical) art workshops for children – including design of format, mentoring participants and providing feedback, and polishing final products
  • Work in close collaboration with Communications to develop short instructional videos on art-making techniques

Deliverables

  • Submission of designs/illustrations from each assignment. Number of designs to be submitted will be decided before the start of the assignment
  • Submission of five instructional videos (2-3 minutes in length) on comic-making techniques
