Long Description ---------------- **Background Information** The Culture Unit of UNESCO Bangkok aims to enhance UNESCO Member States’ capacity to safeguard heritage and promote culture towards sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. The unit is responsible for wide range of programme areas, namely (i) safeguarding World Heritage, intangible cultural heritage, underwater cultural heritage and other movable heritage, (ii) promoting creativity including the cultural and creative industries, (iii) linking culture and development, particularly towards the SDGs and in the context of cities. **Tasks and Assignment** Under the authority of the Director of the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Regional Multisectoral Office in Bangkok and the overall supervision of the Chief of the Culture Unit of UNESCO Bangkok, the incumbent shall perform the functions as follows: 1\. Undertake the effective planning, implementation and monitoring of culture programmes and projects including support within the framework of the UNESCO culture conventions, as follows: 1.1 Under the 1972 Convention: develop and implement programmes related urban heritage with reference to the Historic Urban Landscape recommendation and provide technical support to States Parties in World Heritage protection and management 1.2 Under the 2005 Convention: develop and implement advocacy, networking and capacity building activities supporting cultural and creative industries 1.3 Related to culture, heritage and education: expand upon and develop new programmes that enhance the role of culture in contributing to SDG Target 4.7 1.4 Related to sustainable heritage management: provide expert inputs for the UNESCO Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation and training activities under the Competence Framework for Cultural Heritage Management 1.5 Related to sustainable tourism: provide technical backstopping where needed for cooperation and capacity building activities such as the Expedia Sustainable Tourism Pledge. Long Description ---------------- 2\. Specific functions will include, but not be limited to: 2.1. Liaise with the project partners, experts, consultants, and UNESCO field offices to ensure timely execution of project activities, in accordance with the approved project documents and budgets; 2.2. Organize meetings and workshops of concerned projects, in coordination with the administrative assistants; 2.3. Manage contracts with for consultants/contractors/implementing partners including drafting of TORs and undertaking review and analysis of deliverables; 2.4. Undertake financial and substantive project monitoring; identify and track follow up actions; 2.5. Undertake review and analysis of expert reports, policy documents and other projects outputs; 2.6. Prepare project technical reports, progress and final reports for the donors, and bi-annual Sister reports; 2.7. Prepare communication/outreach materials for website, press releases, speeches and presentations related to the concerned projects; 2.8. Conduct missions as foreseen in the project work plans. 3\. Take an active role in the formulation and preparation of project proposals and work plans for resource mobilization, in alignment with UNESCO Culture Sector’s priorities, and with a special emphasis on urban heritage and cultural and creative industries. 4\. Develop partnerships at the national and regional level with various stakeholders, including national governmental agencies, universities, other national and international organizations. 5\.
