Expected duration The duration of the contract will be for five months starting from 1 May 2022.

Duties and Responsibilities The United Nations Peace and Development Trust Fund (UNPDF) was established in 2016, following the pledge by the Government of the People's Republic of China to contribute $200 million US dollars to the United Nations over a ten-year period. The UN and the Donor Government aim to work together to achieve the goals of the Charter of the UN through implementation of innovative, forward-looking and pro-active projects and activities financed by the Trust Fund.

The UNPDF is composed of two sub-funds: the Peace and Security Sub-Fund and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund (2030 Agenda Sub-Fund). The Peace and Security Sub-Fund focuses on maintenance of international peace and security, including through support to mediation, preventive diplomacy, electoral assistance, and peace building activities. And the 2030 Agenda Sub-Fund focuses on the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs.

The Programme Management Teams of the two Sub-Funds are located within the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (EOSG) and the Department for Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and are responsible to discharge the daily operational management duties for each Sub -Fund, including monitoring and evaluation of funded projects and the oversight of financial requirements.

The specific responsibilities/tasks are: 1. Preparations for the UNPDF Steering Committee Meeting, including support to the preparation of the meeting documentation, assist with the planning aspect and logistical support for the meeting, preparation of PowerPoint presentations and note-taking of the outcome of the meeting, media coverage of the meeting. 2. Assist with monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects. 3. Collect and summarize the bi-annual updates for ongoing and completed projects financed by the Peace and Security Sub-Fund 4. Assist with the collection of materials for the update of the UNPDF website and collaborate with the Department of Global Communications for the 2022 update of the website 5. Review, analyze and make recommendations on request for off-cycle projects and no-cost extensions 6. Support the overall management activities for the fund, upon request. 7. Assist with enhancing donor relations and outreaching with clients.

Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications:

Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in fields related management in general including but not limited to Programme Management, Programme Evaluation, Management and Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration etc.

Experience:

A minimum of 5 years of proven practical experience in policy support, programme management, general administration, public administration; Proven analytical and writing skills in programme management , specialized papers, talking points, policy documents, technical guidance notes, standard operating procedures and other related documents; Proven experience in working with Government offices, private sector, NGOs, international organizations; Good understanding of the United Nations Peace and Security mandate; Ability to work as part of a wider team and ability to coordinate with multi-stakeholders on different levels (UN team members, focal points and representatives from Governments, academia, civil society, private sector and other representatives); High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and PowerPoint with excellent presentation and communication skills.

Language:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required.
