Result of Service By the end of the contract the incumbent will have effectively assisted the CCW ISU in the tasks described above.

Duties and Responsibilities Within delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: In close coordination with UNODA Geneva, will support the work of the CCW ISU and the implementation of the EU-funded project on supporting the universalization and implementation of the CCW. The specific tasks are as follows: - Assist the CCW ISU in providing political, legal and administrative support to the CCW bodies and to States to strengthen the universalization and implementation of the Convention and its Protocols. - Support the implementation of the EU-funded project to further universalize and implement the Convention and its Protocols, by supporting the organization and execution of specialized technical activities and writing papers and documents on matters of international humanitarian law, the CCW and contemporary disarmament topics, and providing day-to-day programme support. - Lead the updating and restructuring of the CCW website and related pages. - Prepare content for audio-visual and other outreach materials on the CCW and its Protocols, as well as on other CCW-related topics. - Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications/special skills Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in public international law, preferably with a focus on international humanitarian law, international criminal law or international human rights law. Required. Minimum of five years of relevant working experience in the field of public international law, international relations, peace and security, disarmament or closely related fields. Required. Minimum of one year working with the United Nations or other intergovernmental organization. Required. Proven communication, research and organizational skills. Required.

Languages Fluency in English is required. Fluency in another UN language is an asset.
