You have:
- A Master's degree or equivalent in public administration and/or social studies and/or development studies and/or related area is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of regional or national experience/expertise in government institution, with a specific focus on social policies is required.
- Fluency of Arabic is required, fluency in English is desirable.
- Previous experience in managing media content is required.

Duties and Responsibilities
I. Background The 1995 World Summit for Social Development marked a pivotal moment in global efforts to address poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion. Despite progress, significant challenges remain, including persistent inequalities, the climate crisis, and eroding trust in institutions. The Second World Summit on Social Development (WSSD2) in Doha provides a critical opportunity to reaffirm global commitment to social development, address emerging challenges, and accelerate progress towards a more just and equitable world. The Second World Summit on Social Development, to be held on 4-6 November 2025 in Doha, Qatar, is expected to recommit to the implementation of the Copenhagen Declaration, while addressing gaps and emerging global challenges. It is expected to adopt a concise, action-oriented political declaration, agreed in advance by consensus through intergovernmental negotiations. ESCWA is working with the League of Arab States to hold a preparatory to feed into the Second World Summit that will take place in Tunisia in July 2025. The meeting will bring together Arab ministers to discuss the Arab position and the associated regional declaration that is currently in the making II. Duties and Responsibilities: The individual contractor(s) are requested to: - Review official websites to solicit countries position on the second world summit - Review media content related to the second world summit and the preparatory meeting organized by ESCWA and the League of Arab States
Qualifications/special skills
A Master's degree or equivalent in public administration and/or social studies and/or development studies and/or related area is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 5 years of regional or national experience/expertise in government institution, with a specific focus on social policies is required. Previous experience in managing media content is required.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency of Arabic is required, fluency in English is desirable. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
