You have:
- An advanced university degree, Master, in Economics, Development Economics or related area is required.
- At least 2 years of experience in collecting and analyzing economic data using specialized software such as Stata and R is required.
- Fluency oral and written in English is required.
- A previous research experience on small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and foreign direct investment (FDI) is desirable.
Result of Service The individual contractor will collect, process and analyze data on international investment and other internationalization modes of SMEs, thereby contributing to the effective finalization of the report on FDI by SMEs.

Duties and Responsibilities Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the Investment Issues Section, Investment Issues Branch, DIAE, the individual contractor will (i) assist in the research, development and finalization of a dataset on FDI by SMEs, using different sources and definitions, in line with WIR; ii) collect, process, and analyze data on international investment and SMEs, from country-level surveys, as well as regional data from internationalization reports. To this purpose the individual contractor is expected to: - Complete the processing and analysis of data on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), and their cross-border operations. - Collect and analyze data on greenfield Mergers and Acquisitions (M&As), their foreign affiliates and other forms of internationalization of SMEs. - Finalize the organization and set up of a database of SMEs operations, including by merging and processing several sources of data, to be included in a publication to be launched at the end of the year. - Assist in the analytical work and drafting selected case studies. - Support analytical and econometric research projects of the Section. - Update the data and figures on FDI by SMEs towards the publication of UNCTAD’s quarterly GITM
During this process, the individual contractor will work in close collaboration with the UNCTAD team.
