UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre (GSSC) in Budapest, Hungary supports UNICEF operations globally in the areas of Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and Information Technology.

The Customer Care section is responsible for four major areas namely: Service Desk Function, Incident Management Process for all IT services, Identity and Access Management Process, and end-user support for Business Applications and Process.

How can you make a difference?

The main objective for this consultancy is to augment the capacity for the ABAP development team in the ICTD division in Valencia for work items related to GSSC processes in the areas of FI, HR, and Payroll.

This will involve:

The consultant will bring expert skills in the area of SAP development in ABAP and it is expected to work under the direction of ICTD as follows:

  • Provide technical support to the UNICEF Global Shared Services Center (GSSC) for the ERP system (SAP – VISION) in the FI, MDM, HR and Payroll modules
  • Software development in SAP using ABAP, WebDynpro, Smart forms and FIORI for new processes or enhancements of existing GSSC business processes currently implemented in SAP
  • Develop O-data Services to support FIORI App development
  • SAP PO (Process Orchestrator) development to support VISION-SGW interfaces
  • Document provided solutions as per standard established

This a national consultancy. Applicant must prove eligibility to work in Hungary, if applicant is non-Hungarian citizen (copy of passport in case of EU citizens; work visa in case of non-EU citizens), proof must be submitted at the time of application, or the application will be rejected. This office will NOT provide visa/work permission assistance.

Any consultant bidding for this consultancy work MUST ensure that has the expertise to perform the assigned work by having the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or other relevant disciplines
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in business process analysis, software design, and development is required.
  • Functional knowledge of SAP FI, HR and Payroll modules
  • Experience solutioning in SAP-ABAP, WorkFlow, FIORI, and using JavaScript and Win shuttle
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English language is a requirement
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative environment, excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Experience working within the UN and UNICEF system is an asset

Mandatory Requirements

The proposing service provider must include the following attachments in their submission:

  • CV detailing educational background and all relevant experience
  • Financial Proposal indicating the daily rate for delivery of services.
  • The rate should be expressed in either Hungarian Forint (HUF) or U.S. dollars (USD), The offer must be all-inclusive and expressed in gross amounts (please indicate if VAT is applicable). If/where applicable, the exchange rate to be used for currency conversion will be the United Nations rate of exchange.
  • Document to prove eligibility to work in Hungary, if applicant is non-Hungarian citizen (copy of passport in case of EU citizens; work visa in case of non-EU citizens). UNICEF will not be responsible for providing any support in getting work or resident permit.

Location and duration

The job will be done at Global Shared Services Centre, GSSC, which is located at 1077 Wesselényi utca 16/a, Budapest, Hungary however, remote work is also possible the GSSC is currently implementing flexible working arrangement due to current COVID situation. The consultancy is for 11.5 months (250 days) and expected to start in January 2022.

Evaluation Criteria

Candidates who are under serious consideration will be evaluated by the following criteria:

  • Formal education and training in relevant IT area
  • Relevant Experience in the IT area
  • Functional knowledge of FI, HR and Payroll modules in SAP
  • Relevant experience solutioning in SAP-ABAP, FIORI, JavaScript and Winshuttle
  • Evidence of other Soft skills, i.e.: command of English, interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, working independently, high level of quality on deliverables, etc.

Candidates meeting technical requirements will be evaluated based on value for money of Financial Proposal.

Payment information

  • Billing is for daily rate, on a monthly basis
  • Invoices along with a detailed timesheet is presented to the direct supervisor monthly, at the end of each month, for approval
  • Approved invoices will be submitted for payment

This is a full-time consultancy and as such consultant is eligible to paid time off during this period (1.5 days annual leave/month and UN bank holidays). The terms of payment are upon receipt and approval of invoice and acceptance of work outputs. Payment will be completed by bank transfer in the currency of offer on the next payment cycle (usually within 2 weeks time).

Terms of employment

Consultants are required to submit a statement of good health prior to commencement of work and to take full responsibility for the accuracy of that statement.

Consultants are responsible for arranging, at their own expense, life, health, and other forms of insurance covering the period of their services on behalf of UNICEF as they consider appropriate. Consultants are not eligible to participate in the life or health insurance schemes available to United Nations staff members.

Consultants are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and contributions in accordance with local laws. UNICEF is tax exempt entity and cannot assume nor undertake any liability for taxes, duties or other contributions payable by consultants on payments made under their contract with UNICEF.
