Result of Service Within assigned authority the Individual Contractor (Public Information) will perform the following duties: - Support implementation of the UNIS communications campaign on UDHR75 and Vienna+30 by tracking and implementing checklists and supporting organization of events - Support implementation of the UNIS-UNCG Vienna communications campaign on SDG halfway point/Calle Libre Street Art Festival by tracking and implementing checklists and supporting organization of events - Researching global UN Trello Boards and drafting social media posts and web content - Measuring impact of communications activities by implementing surveys and analytics - Support preparation and compilation of media monitoring products - Support preparation and implementation of Cine ONU film series - Draft speeches and presentations for the UNIS Director

Duties and Responsibilities This position is located in the United Nations Information Service (UNIS) Vienna (Austria), Campaigns and Country Operations Division, Department of Global Communications (DGC). UNIS provides public information support and promotional services to the substantive programmes of the United Nations based in Vienna and acts as Secretariat to the United Nations Communications Group (UNCG) in Vienna. It serves the following client countries - Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia and is taking over a new regional oversight role to provide guidance and support to UN Information Centres (UNICs) and UN Offices (UNOs) in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Czechia, Georgia, Poland, Türkiye and Ukraine. Under the general supervision of the Deputy to the Director, and under the specific supervision of the heads of the Outreach and News and Media Liaison teams on the respective tasks: Support the implementation of UNIS communications campaigns: a) Universal Declaration of Human Rights 75 (UDHR 75) and Vienna to mark the 30th anniversary of the World Conference on Human Rights, which took place from 14 to 25 June 1993 in Vienna, Austria (Vienna+30) b) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) halfway point and Calle Libre Street Art Festival at the Vienna International Centre Support social media activities in UNIS client countries Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia and coordination with UNICs/UNOs Support media monitoring in UNIS client countries Austria, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia and coordination with UNICs/UNOs in the region. Support the implementation of the Cine ONU Vienna film series Draft speeches and presentations for the UNIS Director Support Visitors Service operations

Qualifications/special skills Minimum of two years work experience in public information or communications is required. High school diploma or equivalent is required. A first-level university degree in public information, international relations, political science, or a related field is desirable. Experience working for an international organization is desirable.

Languages English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English and German is required. Fluency of another official United Nations language or languages of UNIS Vienna client countries or languages of region (Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Czechia, Georgia, Poland, Türkiye and Ukraine) is desirable.
