Objective

Under the supervision of Philanthropy Specialist in Mexico and in collaboration with the LACRO Philanthropy team, the post holder, will focus on creating UNICEF High Value (Major donor) Pipeline in Mexico and then developing and executing the Philanthropy strategies to cultivate, solicit and steward high value gifts from the portfolio, maximizing resources and support for UNICEF programmes for children.

Philanthropy Duties

Strategy

  • Provide research of UHNWI, related to philanthropic giving and develop an approach to reach them with the adequate offer in country.

Prospect Identification and Cultivation

  • Develop a high value and realistic prospect list of UHNW potential donors with the capacity to give 100,000 USD+
  • Identify, conduct research and assist in the screening of prospects and new partnership opportunities that would generate revenue and ultimately increase support to UNICEF’s lifesaving programs.
  • Design and implement communication strategy to cultivate high value prospects.

Engagement:

  • Work with the Philanthropy Specialist in Mexico and the Philanthropy team to develop and deliver robust new business strategies and stewardship plans.
  • Find and build the relationship with new prospects and coordinate donor meetings to engage prospective partners at the $100,000+ giving level
  • Use UNICEF´s network to identify and drive forward approaches to new UHNWI prospects in focus markets
  • Write compelling cases for support, donor communications and the materials needed for prospects’ engagement and solicitation including briefing materials, slide decks, greeting cards, receipts and elevator speeches.

Coordination:

  • Create and maintain an engagement calendar of key relevant events in UNISON.
  • Develop UNICEF cultivation events including development of invite lists, contact details, briefing materials and logistical support. Identify opportunities for thought partnerships and lead organization of roundtables and thought partnership events with senior leadership and key prospective partners
  • Identify and follow up UNICEF participation in country, regional and global philanthropy events (CEMEFI, Wings, etc). Follow up on the participation of potential MD at local, regional and global events invited by UNICEF.
  • Deliver MD cultivation strategy including coordinating and drafting minutes of internal meetings; mailings in general, keep updated the database of potential Major Donors and Key Contacts.

- Carry out a minimum of 16 prospect/donor meetings/calls or substantial touch points (4 per quarter) to advance relationships

- Share a minimum of 4 meaningful touchpoints a month with donors, influencers and potential prospects [From February Onwards].

- Contribute towards securing Mexico CO first International Council member

- Share monthly status update with the LAC Regional Support Centre and attend global and regional philanthropy calls

- Organize minimum one cultivation event (virtual field visit) or contribute to the organization of a regional event.

Key competencies, technical background, and experience required

  • University degree in Administration or related technical field an asset
  • Three years of relevant professional work experience in Philanthropy Strategies. Desirable in High value (Major donors) strategies
  • Knowledge of tax issues related to donations of philanthropists
  • Fluency in Spanish and English is required

General Conditions

  • The individual contractor will work in UNICEF offices in Mexico City or pending the evolution of the pandemic teleworking from Mexico might be possible pending supervisor’s agreement (Working hours: Monday to Thursday from 9 to 17.30hrs, Friday from 9 to 14hrs).
  • The individual contractor might have field trips within Mexico.
  • Computer will be provided by UNICEF that has to be returned at the end of the contract.

The consultant must have his/her own insurance or medical coverage for the duration of the contract (you will have to prove this before starting the contract)
