You have:

Result of Service

The services of the Individual Contractor will support UNCTAD in preparing the Vulnerability Profile of Uganda and support the 2026 review by the Committee for Development Policy of the potential graduation case of Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities

The vulnerability profile of Uganda is being prepared at a critical time when the country is faced with global economic turmoil and uncertainty when it has barely recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic. The vulnerability profile will therefore assess the implications of the global trade tensions on progress towards structurally transforming the economy and the policy measures necessary to insulate it from further shocks. The assessment will also identify persistent sources of vulnerability, both external and internal, and identify options for the country to build resilience against them. Under the supervision of the project officer of ALDC/PARB/LDC Section, the Individual Contractor will perform the following tasks: (i) Identify and collect up-to-date official statistics relevant to the vulnerability assessment, including but not limited to key elements of the vulnerability analytical framework. (ii) Review, analyze and summarize existing empirical evidence relevant to the vulnerability assessment such as government sector plans, government reports, government budgets, among other relevant information on Uganda. (iii) Prepare a Vulnerability Profile of Uganda, and to that end, conduct a number of fact-finding and statistical research tasks in accordance with the official format and structure of the profile. (iv) Assist UNCTAD in the preparation and delivery of a national workshop on the graduation with momentum of Uganda, to be held in Uganda before the end of 2026.

Qualifications/special skills

An advanced university degree, Master's degree, in economics, development economics, statistics or related field is required. At least 7 years of professional experience in statistics, data analysis, policy analysis, evaluation of development projects, or related areas, are required. Experience in economic research in the context of Uganda is desirable.

Languages

Fluency oral and written in English is required.
