Overview

Draft reports, develop materials, assist with WasteNet programme activities.

You have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in environmental crime, international development, or legal affairs is required.
  • Experience in drafting various reports on topics related to environmental crime or organized crime.
  • Experience in reporting and monitoring grants from major institutional donors.
  • Expertise and knowledge of waste management, waste trafficking and Basel Convention.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.
  • Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.

Result of Service

Expected tangible and measurable task(s): A. Draft activity, quarterly, and yearly reports of the WasteNet programme; B. Develop advocacy and communications materials (e.g., briefs, talking points, presentations, or social media content) to support key project events and stakeholder engagements. C. Provide administrative and logistical assistance on the organization of WasteNet national and regional activities; D. Conduct background research and compile relevant data to support the drafting of concept notes and project documents, including literature review, stakeholder mapping, and analysis of project context.

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific tasks to be performed by the Individual Contractor: Under the supervision of WasteNet Project Coordinator UNODC ROSEAP, the contractor will carry out the following activities: 1. Draft regular programme and donor reports, liaising with project staff both in headquarter and in the field offices including communication and reporting focal points; 2. Organize and provide support for key events, advisory meetings, and trainings; 3. Assist with developing the workplans for priority and supported countries and identifying opportunities for coordination; 4. Develop advocacy and communications material for key events; 5. Conduct research to support the drafting of concept notes and project-related documents.

Qualifications/special skills

Academic qualification: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in the area of crimes that affect the environment, international development, legal affairs or similar areas is required. Experience in drafting various reports on topics related to crimes that affect the environment or organized crime Experience in reporting and monitoring grants from major institutional donors Expertise and knowledge of waste management, waste trafficking and Basel Convention Experience working within the United Nations system or similar international organization

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
