Recruitment of a locally-hired Individual Contractor (at G-5 equivalent staff grade) Contract period: 20 May to 30 June 2024

The Individual Contractor will work under the supervision of the Associate Legal Officer to support the legal team in drafting key court interventions before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). Moreover, the Individual Contractor will provide all relevant support to producing detailed legal analysis of the reform of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). The support of the Individual Contractor will be crucial in ensuring that the team is able to carry out its day-to-day activities and to contribute to strengthening the protection of the fundamental rights of refugees and stateless people in Europe.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Assist in the legal research and drafting of UNHCR’s third-party interventions before European courts and tribunals;
  • Assist in providing legal analysis related to the reform of the CEAS;
  • Monitor and analyze relevant European and national case-law on migration and asylum;
  • Perform other related duties, as required.
