Participate in development of thematic briefs on UNODC and human rights.
You have:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the area of crime prevention and criminal justice and rule of law issues is required.
- Experience in working with the United Nations is required.
- Experience in legal analysis and working on human rights related issues is required.
- Experience in writing or editing legal documents for the United Nations, preferably on topics related to the mandates of UNODC, is desirable.
- Fluency in oral and written English is required.
- Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.
Result of Service- Participate in the development of thematic briefs on the work of UNODC and human rights. - Coordinate input from various substantive officers within UNODC. - Undertake research and mapping exercises to identify existing tools and resources within the UN system, as well as UNODC that supports mainstreaming human rights and leaving no one behind, with a view to building a repository of knowledge on human rights. - Contribute to the development of e-learning modules on human rights and the work of UNODC. - Support the preparation of analysis pertaining to the implementation of the Human Rights Due Diligence Policy (HRDDP). - Provide programme management assistance and support the organization of meetings with relevant UN agencies and partners working in the area of human rights. - Draft correspondence and parliamentary documents, update substantive reports, briefing notes and other relevant written input.
Work Location Vienna HQ with travel, tentative dates: 6 – 17 November 2023 to South Africa
Expected duration 25 September 2023- 31 March 2024
Duties and Responsibilities Under the direct supervision of the Drug Control and Crime Prevention Officer, and in close consultation with relevant substantive officers within UNODC, the individual contractor will:

Languages - English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this post, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.
