UNICEF Lebanon has high and consistent needs of graphic design assets in support of campaigns, communication in emergencies and content dissemination contributing to programmatic priorities and resource mobilization initiatives. In 2020, one graphic designer produced 300 assets as requested from different sections, including requests with short deadlines. UNICEF Lebanon requires the services of a graphic designer to ensure the production of graphic design assets on a regular basis and including urgent/unexpected needs.

UNICEF Lebanon Communication section will hire the services of an individual contractor to provide graphic design services covering the production of a range of deliverables on demand as described in the work assignment expected results.

How can you make a difference?

The Graphic Designer will report directly to the Chief Communication, noting that he/she will work in close collaboration with various focal points from programme sections.

Work Assignment Expected Results Tasks/Milestone: Deliverables/Outputs: TimelineEnsure the production of visual content as required by the Front Office, Programme sections, PRIME and the Communication section. Includes:

. Conceptualization and realization.

. Visualize raw content and key research finding into user friendly products.

. Direct coordination with the sections.

. UNICEF brand guidelines are applied to all deliverables.

On a regular basis: Visuals, presentations, reports, newsletters, factsheets and any other visual content/graphic design assets for online or offline usage are timely produced.

On a monthly basis: consultancy monthly report to specify what and how many deliverables have been produced or adapted supporting what sections.

Monthly submission of a detailed progress report during the contractual period of 11.5 monthsIn coordination with PRIME and the Communication section, improve the user experience and enhance the human centered design by:

. Identifying, advising and implementing user experience best practices.

. Analyzing the user experience and developing proposals to improve the user experience.

. Involving the user's perspective in all steps of the problem-solving process.

. Proposing, testing and introducing new visual content strategies.

. Support KIM and innovation on enhancing accessibility, usability and visibility of tools.

. Monitoring and analytics of user insights on PRIME tools.

. Building internal capacity on the user-first culture.

On a regular basis:

. User experience best practices log/report;

. Proposals to improve user experience/human centered design shared and implemented;

. Tests’ results reports.

On a monthly basis: consultancy monthly report to include all deliverables specifying what and how many deliverables have been produced or adapted supporting what sections.

Before end of contract: develop and implement a capacity building plan to expand the human centered/user experience culture.

Monthly submission of a detailed progress report during the contractual period of 11.5 monthsDevelop coordination tools and ensure safe archiving of all deliverables in UNICEF ECM folders. Includes:

. Develop SOPs.

. Coordinate with the Communication section where to file all deliverables to ensure they are archived in UNICEF ECM system.

. Ensure archiving is implemented as agreed. and best practices for visual content production with samples for easy reference

. SOPs are developed six months after the contract start date.

. Archiving system is established and implemented one month after the contract start date.

Monthly submission of a detailed progress report during the contractual period of 11.5 monthsTo qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • An bachelor degree in in graphic design/visual communication or related technical field.
  • 6+ years of relevant professional experience in working with UN agencies, NGOs, publishing outlets or marketing/communication companies.
  • 2+ years of experience with international humanitarian/development organizations.
  • Expert knowledge in graphic design and graphic design software, includingbut not limited to: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After effect, Final Cut Pro, Flash, Flex Builder, and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic designassets, including infographics/factographs (for print and digital), data visualization, animation, and interactive presentations.
  • Strong comprehension of work, standards and practices of UN and otherInternational Government/Humanitarian Organizations.
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published/printedproduct with knowledge of printing processes (offset and digital) and colour management.
  • Knowledge of programming languages is a plus, including: HTML, HTML5and main frameworks (bootstrap, boiler plate), CSS (1 to 3), Javascript and the main library, PHP, AJAX, XML, Javascript, PHP, and MySQL.
  • User experience oriented, with strong comprehension of human centreddesign and data driven content strategies.
  • Strong comprehension of theory related to human interaction withwebsites, information architecture, usability, accessibility, UX and interactive design is a plus.
  • Self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Possesses strong organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • International professional experience is an asset.
  • Brings evidence of success in preparing successful branding products and marketing materials.
  • High command of Arabic and English. Other official UN languages such as French are a plus.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
