Despite the progress that has been made so far, teachers are still not equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for building young learners’ competences, hence further support is needed. Teachers struggle to understand various aspects of the newly introduced curriculum and need further support to transform and modernize their teachings, including through digital means. Teachers need more advice, guidance, and instructions on how to overcome difficulties in the curriculum implementation and how to integrate their teaching into the new demands of online/blended teaching.

The purpose of this assignment is to provide support to the implementation of the project ’Enhancing Digitalisation in Education in Serbia’, more specifically to support the Institute for Improvement of Education (IIE) in the coordination of strengthening national structures for provision of support to education institutions, school authorities and teachers, and for capacity building of schools and education professionals in the area of curriculum implementation and use of digital technologies in learning and teaching.

Work Assignment Overview:

The work entails supporting the implementation activities of the project ‘Enhancing Digitalisation in Education in Serbia’ implemented by the IIE and UNICEF in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development (MoESTD).

Duration of the assignment: July – December 2022 (full-time, office-based at the IIE premises)

Task description:

  1. Provide support to the activities of the IIE in strengthening of the national structure for implementing the mentoring, peer learning & monitoring system aimed to enhance curriculum implementation and advance digital learning in schools;
  2. Provide support to the activities of the IIE in developing framework for capacity building of schools for the development, planning of implementing the new curriculum, and use of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment;
  3. Provide support to the activities of the IIE in capacity building of schools for development, planning and implementation of the new curriculum and use of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:

  • University degree in Sciences (including Social sciences), Arts, Humanities, Languages, Information Technology, Mathematics.
  • At least 5 years of experience with education system in Serbia, in particular with capacity building in education.
  • Excellent knowledge of Serbian education system and education policies, and experience in working with different public institutions.
  • Experience in integrating technology into teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative and independently.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in planning and problem solving.
  • Excellent networking and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines through excellent time management and organizing skills.
  • Fluency in Serbian language.
