Overview

Support e-commerce project analysis and data collection.

You have:

  • Master degree (or higher) in economics, international economics and/or development economics is required
  • Some academic or research experience in economics and development is required
  • At least one year of experience on data analysis for economic and trade policy research of Asian countries is required
  • Good data-analysis skills are essential
  • Proficiency in excel, coding and programming for data analysis using R and/or STATA is required
  • Good English skills are required
  • Familiarity with ESCAP publications and UN editorial style is an asset

Result of Service a. Desk research to gather insights from various sources on e-commerce markets in selected Asian countries (a minimum of 10 countries or subject to the consideration of the project officers) Deliverables: Data files, data tables, charts, and short narrative describing the overview of e-commerce markets for selected Asian countries Delivery Date: 1 February 2023- 31 July2023

b. Support the construction of database dashboard, infographic, presentation, training materials related to E-commerce and digital trade Deliverables: Documents/records/websites showing contribution Delivery Date: 1 February 2023- 31 July2023

c. Assist in conducting analytical works in trade, e-commerce, digital trade, and integration. Deliverables: Draft report(s)/Documents/records/websites showing contribution to analytical works Delivery Date: 1 February 2023- 31 July2023 Performs other duties as assigned by the project managers and the Chief, Trade Policy and Facilitation Section.

Copyrights over all outputs are owned by the United Nations. The United Nations reserves its exclusive right at its sole discretion to alter, publish or use any part of the outputs under this contract in any respect. The contractor should inform and request explicit permission for any use of the outputs under the project, in particular during the project delivery and before it has been published and disseminated publicly by the United Nations. Dissemination under another organization’s name is not permitted unless permission is granted in writing. Failure to follow this requirement may result in non-payment to the contractor

Duties and Responsibilities Purpose:

The contractor will support the delivery of the FEALAC funded project on “Support the strengthening of policies to monitor and promote the participation of MSMEs in cross-border goods and services in e-commerce for an inclusive and sustainable pandemic response and recovery in East Asia and Latin America” The purpose is to have a better understanding of the characteristics and trends of the e-commerce markets and the number and characteristics of major B2C e-commerce marketplaces in selected FEALAC countries.

Objective:

Under the direct supervision and guidance of the officers in charge of the project, the general guidance of the Chief of Trade Policy and Facilitation Section, and the overall supervision of the Director of the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division, the contractor will work with the project team to support the delivery of several activities in relation to the implementation of the project.

Qualifications/special skills Master degree (or higher) in economics, international economics and/or development economics is required Having some academic or research experience in economics and development. Having at least one-year experience on data analysis for economic and trade policy research of Asian countries. Good data-analysis skills. Proficiency in excel, coding and programming for data analysis using R and/or STATA.

Languages Good English Skills Having some familiarity with ESCAP publications and UN editorial style is an asset.
