How can you make a difference?

Under the overall direction of the Regional Communication Specialist of UNICEF LAC-RO and in the framework of the UNICEF Regional Office Communication Working Plan 2022, we are seeking a Digital Content Producer with the skills to create engaging and creative content for UNICEF regional website and social media channels.

Specific Tasks:

The Digital Content Producer work within the UNICEF Communication section in the Regional Office and will have the opportunity to contribute to make a large impact on the design, architecture, and implementation of all the regional digital and social media platforms.

The main deliverables are:

  • Development a monthly editorial calendar with engaging content (articles, blogs, stories, copy writing) for RO website and social media platforms managed by RO.
  • Adapt and translate to social media new contents and articles produced by NYHQ, to be shared with Country Offices in the region in English and in Spanish.
  • Provide general assistance to the Communication Section in the Regional Office with special focus on: Developing social media packs combining key messages, graphic design, and new techniques to generate engaging content.
  • Producing new and engaging multimedia materials, including videos, for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Identify new opportunities to continually improve our presence across digital platforms to deepen engagement with supporters.
  • Development and propose an editorial calendar of engaging articles to amplify the programme work.

  • Support in providing analytics reports and provide recommendations on tactics to improve UNICEF's digital presence.

Expected Results:

  • Increase the number of digital supporters (visitors to the LACRO website and followers in social media channels)
  • Increase engagement and reach on LACRO's social media channels.
  • Support and development of social media packages to be shared on LACRO's social media channels and amongst UNICEF’s Country offices and partners.
  • Create a calendar of publications and development of monthly content.
  • Delivery of monthly digital reports.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Education: Preference will be given to candidates with bachelor's Degree in Communication and/or Digital Journalism, or related fields integrating social-media platforms, APIs (CMS, Facebook, Twitter, Google, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Work Experience:
    • Proven experience in developing engaging content.
    • Proven experience in communications skills and multimedia (writing, editing, event organization, video production, photography).
    • Proven experience in using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign.
    • Experience in working with UNICEF and UN agencies.
    • Proven experience using Drupal.
    • Experience creating engaging Reels and TikTok.
  • Languages: Fluency in Spanish and excellent command of English is compulsory.

Administrative details:

Supervision: The individual contractor will work under the direct supervision of the Communication Specialist and in close collaboration with the Communication Officer.

Workplace: Home-based.

How to Apply? Application should be submitted online and should include: Resume, Cover Letter, University Diploma and Financial proposal. Qualified candidates are requested to submit monthly fees in their financial proposal.

Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Duration of contract: Estimated start date of this contract is the second/third week of July 2022 for a period of 6 months.

Insurance: The selected contractor must demonstrate proof of medical insurance prior to the beginning of the consultancy and must be valid for the entire duration of the contract. In duty stations where UNICEF provides medical evacuation, the medical insurance that the contractor holds should include provisions for medical evacuation.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
