Result of Service

The incumbent will support work on the following activities: Planning monitoring and reporting: The Incumbent will support the planning, monitoring and reporting of the UNSDCF, including: • Supporting the operation of the inter-agency Programming, Monitoring and Evaluation (ProgM&E) Group. • Assist in the development and monitoring of the joint work plans (JWP), results matrix, and other UNSDCF related documents and plans. • Support the coordination of UN entities and inter-agency working groups for joint monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the UNSDCF. • Compile, review and update progress data and information to enable effective reporting on the UNSDCF. • Support the updating of data into UNINFO’s planning, monitoring and reporting system. • Support the independent external evaluators by coordinating inter-agency contributions to be used in the UNSDCF external evaluation. Partnerships management, event facilitation and other activities: • Support the development and strengthening of partnerships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, embassies, civil society, think tanks, academia and the private sector. • Compile inputs to be used in speeches and talking points. • Compile quantitative and qualitative inputs to support the preparation of the CCA. • Other duties as assigned by supervisor, including supporting the organization of meetings and events.

Duties and Responsibilities

The United Nations Resident Coordinator leads the UN Country Team (UNCT) in China, including all the UN entities present in the country. The purpose of the Resident Coordinator System (RCS) and the Resident Coordinator Office (RCO) in China is to bring together the UN agencies, funds and programmes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of operational activities at the country level, supporting the UN to be a more relevant and reliable partner for the government. The UN in China is currently in the fourth year of implementation the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2021-2025 for China and beginning work on preparing the next UNSDCF for the period 2026-2030. This initial work includes coordinating the external evaluation of the current UNSDCF and preparing the Common Country Assessment (CCA). The RCO in China is seeking a motivated individual contractor to join the team on a full-time basis. Under the overall guidance of the Head of RCO and the direct supervision of the Economist, the individual contractor will be responsible for providing support to overall data, programming, monitoring and reporting efforts, along with other coordination functions for the UN in China. Qualifications/special skills

• Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent degree) in international development studies, international relations, social sciences, business or public administration, statistics, economics, sustainable development or other relevant field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. • A minimum of two years of professional experience in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, data analysis, or related field. • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience in drafting technical reports and undertaking data analyses. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dynamic environment and the ability to multi-task. • Prior work experience with the United Nations or another international organization is desirable.

Languages

Fluency in oral and written English and Chinese is required.
