To support activities related to data, analytics, and measurement of mental health related portfolio, both for MENARO and DAPM as part of the Data and Analytics Maternal, Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (MNACH) portfolio.

How can you make a difference?

Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for children, adolescents and families is an emerging area of importance for UNICEF. Evidence and data generation are among the key pillars of action in the MHPSS area of work for UNICEF. The primary function of this consultancy is to support activities related to data, analytics, and measurement of mental health related portfolio, both for MENARO and DAPM as part of the Data and Analytics Maternal, Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (MNACH) portfolio. The expected support revolves around the following activities: development of data-driven products, new tools for data collection/analysis/dissemination for measuring different aspects of adolescents and caregivers mental health, providing support to countries and regions on the adaptation of M&E frameworks related to Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). This is an 11 (eleven) month consultancy with nine (9) key tasks to be completed during the programme period; the monthly fee for this consultancy will be no more than 6,500 USD/month.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Candidate must have a master’s degree in a discipline related to public health, integrated health systems design, and/or psychology/counselling.
  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with programmes, policies, and data sets related to aspects of delivery of mental health and psychosocial support services, ideally focusing on children and adolescents. The ideal candidate will have:
  • Demonstrated experience working with large data sets;
  • Demonstrated research and writing skills (writing samples required);
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the mental health and psychosocial prevention and response, including IASC, UNICEF, and WHO programming principles;
  • Comfortably working independently whilecoordinating closely with different teams.
  • Proficiency reading and writing in English required; Arabic language proficiency considered an asset.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
