Contract

This is a Consultancy contract. More about Consultancy contracts.

UNICEF works in some of the world’s toughest places, to reach the world’s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.

And we never give up.

For every child, advocate

UNICEF China works with private sector to mobilize resources for children. In this regard, content plays a key role in our engagement with existing and potential supporters. To support the Partnerships and Innovation (PI) Section's growth targets for both individual fundraising and inspired gifts sales, it's crucial to expand the content generation capacity to enable engagement activities in a fast-changing environment.

To support the biggest-ever corporate partnership UNICEF China Office has signed, a marketing officer who currently leads on the content services for PI section will provide additional support to Child Health and Development section to help deliver advocacy services as committed to the bespoke partnership. To fill in capacity gaps, PI section will need to recruit an individual contractor to take over content development tasks for the individual fundraising team.

The incumbent will be based in UNICEF China Office to provide content services to support individual fundraising team’s donor retention journey and related campaigns.

How can you make a difference?

- Under the supervision of the marketing officer, the incumbent will be responsible for generating original marketing content and/or adapting existing materials in support of the individual fundraising team’s donor retention and loyalty services.

  • Conduct desk research, copy-edit and translate UNICEF’s global emergency assets, such as human-interest stories, videos, photos and other content from English to Chinese, for the conversion and retention journey of monthly pledge donors in support of UNICEF’s global humanitarian work. The content will mainly be distributed via eDMs.
  • Take field trips to collect original contents for China country programme donor retention use, such as human-interest stories, short videos, V-logs, field trip diaries, and others to showcase the positive impact of UNICEF’s work for children.
  • Proactively expand the inhouse story pool by sourcing and adapting various forms of content produced by the communications team, program sections and counterparts (possibly through telephone interviews), a network of freelancers located in or near UNICEF project sites in China, and other channels.
  • Develop tailored content based on specific donor segmentation strategy, especially targeting the Generation Z audiences to ensure content relevance and resonance.
  • Support on other donor communication tasks as needed.

- Duration of service: 11.5 months from May 2022.

- Monthly payment based on tasks completion lists signed by contractor and supervisor.

- The incumbent is expected to work on regular working days excluding UN holidays in UNICEF China Office. The individual contractor is entitled to paid time off in accordance with relevant policies. This entitlement can be accumulated during the contract period but not converted to an additional payment.

- Complete submission of deliverables as per expected standard and quality as assessed by the supervisor is a prerequisite for payment of fee. UNICEF reserves the right to adjust or withhold payments for late deliverables or for deliverables not meeting expected quality.
