The Communication Section, UNICEF Thailand Country Office (TCO) is seeking an individual contractor to provide crucial support to the communication section’s celebrity and influencer engagement effort working closely with the communication and fundraising sections and UNICEF Thailand as a whole, on key activities in the celebrity engagement plan in support of advocacy and fundraising campaigns and programme initiatives to raise awareness of child rights among the public, and mobilize support for children. UNICEF Thailand wishes to strengthen its collaboration and partnership with celebrities and influencers, including actors, singers, athletes, chefs, celebrity pediatricians and child psychologists, online influencers, among others, who are passionate about child rights and would like to utilize their public profile and join UNICEF in making a positive difference for children and young people.

The consultancy will also support the communication team in developing partnership briefs for each project and campaign, conducting research on potential celebrity partners, developing celebrity plans for various campaigns and projects, reach out to and secure celebrity partnerships, assist in liaising with the celebrities and ensure a smooth partnership in the medium to longer term. The assignment would also include data gathering, research and information support for celebrity engagement strategy development and update.

Work Assignment:

Under the direct supervision of the Celebrity Engagement lead in the Communication Section, and guidance of the Chief of Communication, the consultancy is expected to fulfill the following:

  1. To take the responsibilities in engaging UNICEF celebrity supporters and to provide support on overall celebrity engagement effort.

  2. Coordinate with and secure cooperation from celebrity supporters

  3. Develop partnership pitches and project briefs for sharing with the celebrities
  4. Manage relations and provide professional recommendations on the approach to work with celebrities while accommodating the targets of campaigns and activities.
  5. Conduct due diligence and research to ensure effective partnership adhering to UNICEF brand guidelines
  6. Organize various celebrity engagement activities including field visits and other content production and engagement through social media.
  7. Ensure effective post-campaign/activity appreciation and recognition as part of relationship management with celebrities, their managers and/or affiliations.
  8. Contribute and support in producing briefing notes, and necessary content for celebrities
  9. Responsible for data gathering, research and information support for strategy and engagement planning as well as progress update of UNICEF’s activities for the engaged celebrities

  10. Support to celebrity engagement plan execution for flagship campaigns and initiatives:

  • Develop celebrity engagement plan for specific projects and initiatives/campaigns as agreed with the supervisor or project lead, including projects such as the Blue Carpet Show for UNICEF, Box of Life, UNICEF’s advocacy campaigns, awareness raising and behaviour change projects on child rights, etc.
  • Implementation of the plan for the campaign/initiative, in coordination with other communication, fundraising and programme colleagues.
  1. To assist celebrity profile development
  • Provide strong support in the design and implementation of profile development journeys for Friends of UNICEF and other long-term partners
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of celebrity engagement journeys for prospective celebrity partners
  1. Other assignments
  • Support in keeping a celebrity engagement log to monitor and record all areas of support received from celebrities, it’s impact in social media and media reach, and in updating the celebrity supporter list.

End Product(s):

The following outputs are listed below but may change subject to the evolving situations and needs.

  • Celebrity and influencer engagement plan for all projects and campaigns requiring celebrity support and engagement
  • Record of engagement activities and support given by celebrity supporters
  • Record of pre-campaign/activity briefing prepared for celebrity supporters
  • Record of post-campaign/ activity summary for celebrity supporters
  • Documentation of research conducted on potential celebrity supporters according to campaign/project needs and UNICEF brand guidelines
  • Evidence of recognition prepared for all celebrity supporters and media partners
  • Evidence of correspondences made with celebrities to secure their partnership and smooth running of the joint projects
  • Timely securing of celebrity and influencer partnerships
  • Timely sharing of the contents and messages prepared for the celebrities and approvals received in a timely manner
  • Evidence of internal and external consultations conducted for celebrity and influencer engagement in various contents, projects and campaigns.

Official Travel: The consultancy may be required to travel to perform the assigned tasks, but the exact travel requirements will be determined during the assignment.

Duration of Contract: 11.5 Months – During the period of 15 September 2021 – 31 August 2022 with regular office hours, Monday – Friday.

Working Location: The consultancy is to be based at UNICEF Thailand Country Office in Bangkok (with flexibility of working-from-home as needed due to COVID-19). The consultancy should perform the work using own resources (e.g. computer, mobile phone, etc.).

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • Thai national with good command of spoken and written English
  • Graduate university degree (bachelor’s or higher) in areas related to marketing, communications, public relations and related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in successfully handling celebrity management, marketing, public relations targeting high-profile clients, project management and/or influencer dedicated service
  • Possess in-depth understanding on working with celebrities with contextual insight
  • Excellent project management and coordination skills
  • Strong drive for results and commitment to delivering results in a timely manner
  • Strong analytical skill
  • Solid Background in celebrity/artist relationship development and management is highly desirable.
  • Access to celebrity networks in the film and music industries and/or social media influencer networks is a plus
  • Outstanding negotiation and people skills.
  • Experience working in non-profit setting or project is a plus.
  • Experience working in a marketing/PR agency with strong celebrity/influencer portfolio is a plus
  • Team player, problem-solving, attentive, and self-motivated with can-do attitude
