Duties and Responsibilities This opportunity is with the United Nations Global Compact Office (UNGCO), located in the Intergovernmental Affairs and Africa Team in New York. The individual contractor will focus on providing support to the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI) and the Africa Business Leaders Coalition (ABLC).

The Global Compact Office is the United Nations entity responsible for the overall management and coordination of the Global Compact initiative. It pursues two complementary objectives: (1) making the Global Compact and its principles part of business strategy and operations everywhere; and (2) facilitating cooperation among key stakeholders by promoting partnerships and collective action in support of United Nations, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Responsibilities: the individual contractor will be responsible for the following:

1. Manage and maintain GABI Database: collecting information on individuals, initiatives and thematic inputs related to GABI and its focus topics; enter data into a comprehensive database.

2. Provide administrative support: supporting the team in the organization and logistics of GABI side-events, the annual GABI forum, the initiative's governance, and its programmatic offerings, including drafting, preparing, and dispatching emails, tracking RSVPs, coordiniating and setting up physical or virtual meetings, etc.

3. Provide media-related support: monitoring and analysing trends, communications and media pitching, daily media scanning on trending topics with regards to GABI and the ABLC; conducting technical research on marketing strategies communications, developing talking points and media presentation, social media analytics and social echo, content creation and social media management, digital marketing and brand promotions on the Africa Strategy and the activities of GABI and ABLC.

Qualifications/special skills First level university degree in design, graphic design, industrial design, or a related field is required. Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) is desirable. A minimum of one year of experience in providing administrative support or programme coordination is required. Experience with graphic design or management of databases is desirable. Experience with communication, media, or marketing work is desirable.

Languages Fluency in English is required.
