You have:
- Advanced university degree (Master's degree or higher) in market research, marketing, social sciences, communications, or another relevant technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in market research or equivalent business experience including experience in marketing, brand management.
- Prior experience in market research (all approaches and methodologies), and consumer/donor insights, gained client or agency-side, within private or not-for-profit sector.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
- Experience working in an international environment is desirable.

Within Private Fundraising and Partnerships’ (PFP) Marketing and Media Services Section, the Market Knowledge Unit (MKU) provides insights and knowledge to UNICEF National Committees, Private Sector Fundraising country offices, as well as other sections and units within PFP.
PFP Marketing and Media Services Section provides UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices, Regional Support Centres as well as NY Headquarters with guidance and technical support for their public outreach efforts, including individual donations, corporate engagement, and brand and communications. This involves providing full market research services (across all methodologies), market measurements as well as thought leadership and inspirational pieces.
How can you make a difference?
This role is being established to increase the Market Knowledge unit’s capacity
a) to provide country specific integrated strategic reports combining key research pieces available and including conclusions and recommendations, and
b) to support with the design, set-up, analysis and deployment of an ever-increasing number of ad-hoc research projects involving the full spectrum of research methodologies and for the benefits of key PFP internal stakeholders as well as relevant countries.
MAIN TASKS
- Collate, analyse and write Strategic Market Knowledge insights summaries including the relevant available market knowledge and studies (JSP Reports) for 25 countries to help them prepare their Joint Strategic Plans (JSPs).
- Support MKU’s market research efforts in the space of high value marketing. Contribute to the design, research solution evaluation and set-up a new tracking survey in the area of high value donors.
- Support the interpretation of motivations and experience qualitative research. Work with the Market Research Specialist to draw recommendations, to ensure actionability of the findings and socialize the research’s key implications.
- Support the interpretation of pricing study results carried out across 4 countries. Work with the Market Research Specialist to draw recommendations, to ensure actionability of the findings and socialize the research’s key implications.
- Support the Market Research Manager with capacity building (within PFP as well as with countries) in the area of marketing concepts and principles: develop content, prepare and deploy webinars.
- Depending on workloads and specific needs, Support Market Knowledge unit staff in handling the current workload including analysis and interpretation of new research and responding to requests for information and analysis.
DELIVERABLES
- High quality, accurate and timely project management, reports, summaries and insights for all studies.
- About 20 Market Knowledge Country Insights reports. Deadline for delivery of these reports is by end of December 2022
- Executive summaries highlighting key insights and recommendation across countries participating in the Pricing study, plus debrief presentations, by end November 2022.
- Executive summaries highlighting key insights and recommendation across countries participating in the motivations and experience qualitative research, plus debrief presentations, by end November 2022.
- Capacity building content and material (e.g. Models) February 2023
- High value marketing research, results analysis February 2023

Teleworking (home based), with the option to occasionally work from Geneva office (if the commuting distance is reasonable) and regulations allow.

Education:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or higher) in market research, marketing, social sciences, communications, or another relevant technical field. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree), in combination with qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree.
Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years progressive experience in market research or other equivalent business experience including experience in marketing, brand management is required.
- Prior experience in market research (all approaches and methodologies) and consumer / donor insights, gained client or agency-side, within the private sector or the not-for-profit sector is required.
- Experience in philanthropic and charitable organizations is desirable.
- Experience working in an international environment is desirable.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
