Result of Service Provides reliable programmatic and administrative support and coordination to programme/project planning and activities, and provide effective support to office operations. Processes work and requisite follow-up accomplished under some supervision, seeks advice from and/or reporting to supervisor as needed. Accurately prepares reports. Consistently applies appropriate policies, guidelines and procedures. Effectively and in a timely manner, liaises and interacts with colleagues and concerned parties internally and externally.

Work Location Home based + travel Eastern Africa

Expected duration April - June 2022 50 working days

Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Programme Management Officer in the Regional Office for Eastern Africa, the Individual Contractor will:

  • Carry out various programmatic and administrative tasks related to programme formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation;
  • Assist in the preparation of detailed implementation reports;

  • Contribute to the effective visibility and promotion of UNODC/TPB’s counter-terrorism work by coordinating and preparing various written tasks, such as background papers.

    Qualifications/special skills Academic Qualifications: A High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Experience: A minimum of one year of work experience in programme or project administration, technical cooperation or related areas is required. Experience with organizing training activities is required. Experience of working with the United Nations is desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of counter-terrorism measures and UNODC mandate areas is desirable.

Language: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations Secretariat language is an advantage.

Skills: Excellent organizational skills are required.
