UNICEF is looking for an individual contractor to Project Manage our Rich Data Metrics (RDM) project with which we have centralized and optimized the gathering, analysis and sharing of detailed UNICEF Individual Giving fundraising data and key metrics across all Country Offices and National Committees.

The RDM project has grown into an important and indispensable source of information for tracking fundraising performance from UNICEF Individual Giving markets around the world.

Given the scale of the operation and the manual labor still needed to run the ETL process and verify the quality of the data and reports, the RDM project Team have embarked on a RDM Optimization Process with the aim of streamlining and automating the ETL and metric generating process.

Given the scale and complexity of the project we are looking for a project manager to support the team in organizing as well as securing the continued development and optimization of the processes and its outputs.

How can you make a difference?

Under the guidance of the Individual Giving Manager, the individual contractor will act as the Project Manager of the RDM Project. The project currently consists of internal as well as external stakeholders.

Main Tasks:

• Act as a Project Manager for the RDM.
• Maintain control of overall resourcing, timings, and workflow across the different areas of the project, ensuring good quality of information to sponsors.
• Work with project participants in each focus area to ensure scope and objectives are clear, and there is minimal scope creep as initiatives move forward.
• Predict resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner.
• Prepare and negotiate budget, with IG Manager, based on scope of work and resource requirements.
• Track costs across all areas of the project to ensure accuracy and efficiency of spend.
• Develop and manage a detailed project schedule and work plan.
• Deal with stakeholders inside as well as outside of the organization providing clear visibility and workflow of the tasks and projects.
• Provide project updates on a consistent basis to review strategy, adjustments, and progress.
• Lead on the preparation, development and sharing of the reporting of results from the RDM analysis at least twice a year.
• Lead on the preparation, development and sharing of dashboards/reports/analysis that use RDM data but are not integrated to RDM PBI on ad hoc basis.
• Gather feedback from markets, UNICEF stakeholders as well as external partners after each round and make sure relevant changes and optimization opportunities are addressed.
• Lead on the development and/or adoption of any round-by-round changes to the project scope, including analysis, metrics and PBI development.
• Engage with stakeholders outside the organization, such as agencies, to support and provide expertise to achieve targets.
• Manage contracts with vendors and suppliers by assigning tasks and communicating expected deliverables.
• Measure project performance to assess project health and make recommendations or escalation accordingly.

Deliverables:

• Develop and update a project tracker that shows visually project delivery against scope and reflect status of tasks, resourcing, deadlines, responsibilities, and milestones.
• The project process has been well communicated to stakeholders and escalation processes are enabled as needed.
• All deadlines have been clearly shared and announced in a timely manner to stakeholders.
• Stakeholders involved in each deadline have been properly engaged.
• Deadlines are achieved as planned.
• Project team relevant stakeholders have been actively consulted and informed on a regular basis as appropriate.
• There has been a correct resourcing management from externals such as agencies, suppliers and other vendors.
• All initiatives have been running professionally (and have been perceived to be).
• Budgets have been managed and updated in an orderly fashion.
• Every project documentation has been updated and saved in the PFP Collaboration Site/Teams.

Estimated Duration of the contract and Proposal:

• Up to 175 working days within 11.5 months, tentatively starting on August 20, 2022

Reporting To:

• Individual Giving Manager, PFP, based in Geneva

Work Place:

• Remotely, but able to operate within Geneva working hours and the possibility to travel as required, travel regulations and restrictions apply.

Education:

• An advanced University Degree in marketing, business, finance, IT, or related field is required.
• Alternatively, a first-level university degree in a relevant field combined with professional experience in partnerships may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree

Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of project management in a digital environment and related experience is required.
• Experience managing projects through the full life cycle is required.
• Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline is required.
• Experience in managing digital projects in a changing environment is required
• International fundraising experience is an advantage.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and PowerBi.

Language:

• Fluency in English is required.
• Knowledge of another UN official language is an asset.

Other technical competencies:

• Expertise in project management software tools (Microsoft), methodologies (Agile, Kanban), and best practices is required.
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
