Overview

Support UNICEF's Market Knowledge Unit with research and reporting.

You have:

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, marketing, business, or other related areas.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in data analysis in Market Research, Business analysis, Finance or equivalent.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Very strong command of business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar tools.
  • Strong experience in turning data into insights (Market Insights).
  • Experience working in an international environment is a plus.
  • Experience working with Campaigns is a plus.

The PFP Market Knowledge Unit provides insights and knowledge to UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices, as well as other units within PFP.

The PFP Communication and Marketing Section provides UNICEF National Committees and fundraising country offices with guidance and technical support for their public outreach efforts, including individual donations, corporate engagement, and brand and communications. This involves providing market research services covering opinion surveys and market measurements.

How can you make a difference?

This individual contractor is being established to increase the Market Knowledge unit’s capacity to provide reporting, prepare supporting documentation and research summaries for an increasing number of markets and new projects. Three main areas have been identified:

  1. Support the Peer Review, one of the MKU flagship products (individual reports for 50 markets),
  2. Support the Competitive Analysis work
  3. Support the MKU team on Campaigns (i.e. Climate) for the competitive analysis.
  4. Support the integration within the Market Knowledge Unit (Brand and Income, Behaviour Economics and priority themes like Education, Refugees, Climate).

MAIN TASKS

In close coordination with the Market Intelligence Manager five key primary tasks:

  1. Produce Market Peer Review reports for 50+ markets for National Committees and fundraising Country Offices to help them learn from best in class in fundraising. The Peer Review looks at competitors’ income results by income streams and markets.
  2. Produce the Inter and the Intra Peer Review reports (2021) for Best in Class and Bright spots identification in main fundraising income streams.
  3. Produce regular reports on trends and competitor activities for communications and fundraising in individual giving and High Value Channels. A special report on competitive analysis and Trends for Campaigns (Climate) is required.
  4. Produce a white paper on Behaviour Economics with impact on Communications and Fundraising

Depending on workloads and specific needs, the following tasks may be undertaken also, in coordination with the relevant Market Knowledge staff members:

  1. Support the Market Knowledge Chief in producing white papers on specific topics (e.g. insights, Behavioral Economics)

DELIVERABLES

High quality, accurate and timely project management, reports, summaries and insights for all studies. Specifically:

  • June 2022: Global report for the Peer Review.
  • July 2022: Market Peer Review reports (15 markets) for Mid-Year Review
  • August -September 2022: Country Peer Review (50 countries)
  • June 2022, September 2022, December 2022, March 2023: regular reports on competitor activities and trends for individual giving and High Value Channels
  • December 2022 and March 2023: Two editions of the white paper on Behaviour Economics applied to Communications and Fundraising.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

Duration: 11.5 months, tentatively starting 1st of April 2022.

REPORTING TO

The incumbent will report to the Sotta Long, Market Intelligence Manager of the Market Knowledge Unit, who will provide overall direction and guidance, in close collaboration with the Chief of Market Knowledge.

WORKPLACE

Workplace: working remotely – with option to work from Geneva office if the regulations allows and if the current restrictions are lifted based on the Covid-19 situation.

Education:

  • Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, marketing, business, or other related areas. A first-level university degree, in combination with additional qualifying experience, may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of relevant professional experience in data analysis in Market Research, Business analysis, Finance or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in market research or monitoring for a non-profit organization is highly desirable.
  • Strong experience in data analysis and in turning data into insights (Market Insights).
  • Experience working in an international environment is a plus.
  • Experience working with Campaigns is a plus.

Language:

  • Fluency in English is required.

Others:

  • Very strong command of business intelligence tools like Power BI, Tableau or similar tools (Market Measurements).
  • Strong experience in building dashboards with business intelligence tools (Market Measurements).
  • Strong experience in monitoring companies/organizations’ best practices in a sector (Market Intelligence).
