Purpose for the job:

Join our team to lead the delivery of a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation framework (in alignment with AU Monitoring and evaluation systems) to be used by African Union (AU) member states for collection and analysis of data on progress, challenges and successes in implementation of mechanisms to end child marriage at national and continental levels.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer will be expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • Contribute to improving current and future management of outputs, outcomes, and impact of the Campaign at continental level.
  • Conduct research and carry out monitoring and evaluation exercises on the status of child marriage in AU member states, including through post launch country visits.
  • Responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of the monitoring and evaluation, research, and learning framework of the Project of the Campaign.
  • Provide effective, accurate and timely monitoring, evaluation, reporting and review of all project activities from AU member states and other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the generation of campaign scorecard and data collected from AU member states for public sharing, including on the campaign’s social media pages and website; and,
  • Produce an annual report to assess if the Campaign is achieving set targets in line with its strategic plan.
  • Prepare activity reports as required

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • A first University Degree in in Social Development, Human Rights and Development, Law, or other related discipline
  • A minimum of Four [4] years of relevant professional experience in AU including Knowledge and experience of AU Monitoring and Evaluation systems and policies and programs on gender issues specifically on harmful practices such as child marriage is essential, other related experience in a government ministry on gender issues, UN, or NGO is an advantage
  • Knowledge of AU Monitoring and Evaluation systems is necessary
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate technical and strategic methodologies and information in alignment with the Campaign’s strategic plan.
  • Ability to formulate technical reports the work of the Campaign and other technical communications documents.
  • Ability to develop and manage programs within an agreed timeframe.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency is considered an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. The candidate may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid).
