The incumbent is contracted to submit a full documentation of UNICEF Social and Behavioural Change work over the past 5 years. This documentation will reveal the programme results achieved throughout this period. In addition to documenting success stories that can be utilized to motivate other peoples in the community and works as motivational tool for the section future work. The outcomes of this assignment will be a document of two-page factsheet and “rearview” document on programmatic innovations in social/behavioral change.

How can you make a difference?

The documentation will be based on desk review and a series of semi-structured interviews with key informants from UNICEF, stakeholders and programmes beneficiaries. The incumbent is expected to undertake the assignment using the following:

  • Desk review
  • Meetings with relevant UNICEF staff and other stakeholders
  • Virtual and/or in person interviews and discussions with initiative participants

  • Prepare drafts for the 3 documents (long documentation, slides and short summary of key innovations and results) and reflect the edits as required.

  • Prepare final version of documents and final presentations.

Key Activities and Deliverables:

The incumbent is expected to accomplish the tasks as stated below:

  • Inception phase will include the desk review and interviews with relevant UNICEF staff and other stakeholders
  1. Desk research, data analysis, and content review.
  2. Consultations with UNICEF Head of Social and Behavioural Change section, relevant UNICEF programme colleagues, and virtual interviews/discussions with initiative participants.
  • First phase will include the preparations and developing of the first, second and final drafts of the internal document documentation report.
  1. Develop 1st draft of forward-facing internal document for CPD based on guidance/inputs.
  2. Edit and submit 2nd draft of internal document with inputs/changes incorporated.
  3. Copyedit and submit final draft of internal document after the document is designed and layout is reflected
  • Second Phase will include the developing of fact sheet on programmatic innovations in social/behavioural change: processes, accomplishments, evidence, challenges, lessons learned, and ways forward. Includes one to three human interest stories (1K words) along with a presentation of 15-20 slides.
  1. Develop 1st draft of two/four page factsheet “along with a presentation of 15-20 slides on programmatic innovations in social/behavioural change: processes, accomplishments, evidence, challenges, lessons learned, and ways forward. Includes one to three human interest stories (1000 words).
  2. Edit and submit 2nd draft of two-page factsheet and “rearview” document on programmatic innovations in social/ behavioural change

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

  • Education: Master’s degree in international development, social and behavioral studies or any relevant social sciences.
  • Work Experience: More than 10 years of expertise in social and behavioural change programming, planning, reporting and analysis.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the MENA region and UNICEF programming
  • In-depth understanding of social and behavioural change mandate and issues
  • Experience in documentation to reflect programme efforts
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Experience working in a multicultural team and environment and meeting strict deadlines
  • Experience in work with government counterparts and UN/international organizations
  • Language: Fluency in English language written and spoken – Arabic is an asset

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
