Under the direction and guidance of the Sr. Logistics Associate, provides support to Nepal country office in providing logistics response with regard to the receiving, distribution, monitoring stock, and periodic inventory reporting.

How can you make a difference?

The Logistics Consultant performs skilled work on UNICEF warehouse operations and supply chain. The function is characterized as highly independent and provides opportunities for consultant to carry out responsibility for end to end warehousing and distribution management from the receiving to the end of the process and provide input to improve supply chain services and delivery mechanisms.

Assignments

The consultant will support the completion of the following tasks:

  1. Work with the UNICEF Supply Unit to support logistics operations such as receiving deliveries, inventory administration, distribution and transportation ensuring that all targeted supply needs are timely met.
  2. Liaise with the Programme Sections, Field Offices, and transporters for smooth transportation of all procured materials including inventories for early detection of issues and challenges.

  3. Receive Supplies in UNICEF Warehouse, check physically goods quantity/quality. In case of discrepancies/quality issues timely inform supervisor with appropriate details and follow up on the correct actions. Prepare, stamp/sign and file Goods-Receipt-Note.

  4. Stack items in the warehouse and affix labels/stock cards by ensuring sorting and storing materials according to item type, by batch and expiry.
  5. Review approved programe release request, consolidate dispatches by location/routing, and arrange transport and loaders for timely dispatch. Ensure all food/medicines items are released following first-expiry rule.
  6. Ensure timely update of bin/Stock card for all stock movements.
  7. Prepares appropriate documents for every release (Picking/Waybills/GRN etc). Ensure signed/stamped complete sets of documents are handed over to transporter. Monitor dispatches, ensure Consignee’s signed/stamped waybill is received and file accordingly.
  8. Inform concerned programme focal points on new arrivals and dispatches status possible in the same day.
  9. Support programmes in planning/distributing of supplies from any NCO warehouse as it required & also co-ordinate with LTA transporter for distribution of warehouse supplies
  10. Assist in physical count and verification of stocks as required
  11. Ensure warehouses are kept in clean and organized condition, timely report critical issues related to storage environment, supplies conditions or any other issue that might affect programme implementation.
  12. Support in Logistics/warehouse filling system up to date, including other Logistics/ warehouse duties as instructed.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

  • Completion of secondary education preferably supplemented by technical or university courses in a field related to the work of the organization

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of one year of relevant work experience in supply & logistics.
  • Experience working in UNICEF Supply & Logistics (formal/trainee) will be added advantage.

Special skills:

  • Fluency in English (verbal and written). Good written and spoken Nepali are a prerequisite.
  • IT skills and working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft – Excel, Powerpoint and Word software.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors.

UNICEF is not liable and the consultant/individual contractor is responsible for paying taxes incurred from the remuneration under this contract to the relevant government authorities following the Income Tax Act 2002 of Nepal.
