You have:
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in programme planning and management, Statistics, management, economics or a related field.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive working experience in monitoring and evaluation or related area is required.
- The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to eight (8) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
- Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, is required; knowledge of the other is desirable.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.

Result of Service
Develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and reports on the effective management of major projects, programmes and activities; demonstrates timely delivery of outputs in accordance with overall objectives and policies. Serves as an effective spokesperson internally and externally and forms strong partnerships with relevant parties.

Duties and Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the M&E Support Officer will be responsible for the following duties: • Undertakes monitoring, reporting and evaluation tasks and responsibilities; • Develops, implements and evaluates assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions; • Researches, analyzes and presents information gathered from diverse sources. • Generates survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identify problems/issues and drafts survey reports. • Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, evaluation reports, inputs to publications, etc. • Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. • Initiates and coordinates outreach activities; supports training workshops, seminars, etc.; drafts presentations on assigned topics/activities. • Support the conduct of evaluation and co-manage evaluation of projects or subprogrammes; • Backstop the focal persons on audits and evaluation recommendation; • Support timely archieving or documenting the work of the unit in the SharePoint; • Support ad hoc functions of the section, division and the commission as requested by supervisors. • Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications/special skills
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in programme planning and management, Statistics, management, economics or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressive working experience in monitoring and evaluation or related area is required. The minimum years of relevant experience is reduced to eight (8) for candidates who possess a first-level university degree or higher.
Languages
Fluency in one of the working languages of the UN Secretariat, English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
