This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.

Description of task

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Field Office in Pemba and with technical support from the Disability Expert P4, the UNV will provide support to strengthen the inclusive approach to UNICEF programming in all areas of intervention, focusing on, in partnership with our partners, ensuring inclusive and quality access to services, through our programming for integrated nutrition, building back better education initiatives, child protection and communication for development.

In particular the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

  • Provide support and monitor UNICEF Mozambique Country Office (MCO) civil society partnerships on disability (Light for the World, AIFO, FAMOD) and provide necessary support the cross sectorial (Child Protection, Education, Communication) inclusion work in Beira
  • Develop and implement a visibility plan for the donor, in close coordination with the Communication section
  • Provide support upon request to the work of evidence generation on disability, including but not limited to SITAN, Demographic Health Survey (DHS)
  • Work with the adolescent programs and provide support to ensure participation of Adolescents with disabilities in relevant programmatic interventions
  • Work closely with information management focal points to strengthen availability and quality of disaggregated data on programmatic interventions by disability status
  • Support MCO Operation work to ensure inclusion aspects are covered in the ongoing office rehabilitation as well as in other Operations related interventions (including ICT).

Qualifications/Requirements

Required degree level:

Bachelor degree or equivalent

Education - Additional Comments:

Social sciences, communication, law, international relations, project management or similar areas

Required experience:

24 Months

Specific requirements:

The focus of the post will be on strengthening the programming on humanitarian and development nexus, with a focus on disability. Experience in programming in humanitarian context, especially in the area of participation, partnership management, accountability for communities, addressing stigma and discrimination, documenting good practices is an asset.
