Contract
This is a UNV National Specialist contract. This kind of contract is known as National UN Volunteer. It is normally only for nationals. More about UNV National Specialist contracts.
UN Nigeria aims to strengthen disability inclusion analysis, programming, internal systems and processes- making the UN more disability friendly and increasing the number of persons with disability working within the UN. The UNCT is implementation its UN Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) and accountability scorecard on disability inclusion- covering the four core areas of leadership, strategic planning and management; inclusiveness; programming; and organizational culture. However, UN Nigeria rating since 2021 have remain all-time low of less than 50%. The national UNV will provide vital support in UNDIS coordination, implementation and reporting. Under the United Nations Partnership on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNPRPD) funding for inception phase in Nigeria, the UN is working to build capacity on disability inclusion among UN staff, government and Civil Society as well as conducting a situation analysis to provide needed data for programming. Hopefully, the inception phase when completed will translated to having a full project from UNPRPD to advance disability inclusion in Nigeria.
Under the direct supervision of the RCO Team Leader, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Implement the DCO Disability Inclusion Strategy at the country level. • Support the Disability Inclusion Technical Working Team (DITWG) to coordinate the implementation, monitoring and reporting of the UNCT’s disability inclusion strategy and reporting on the accountability scorecard on disability inclusion. • Support analysis and design of joint and agency-driven work on disability inclusion especially for women, girls and young people. • Support UNPRPD Inception phase project coordination including networking with key project partners in Government, Civil Society and OPDs for timely implementation and reporting.
The UNV will support: the work of the interagency group where disability is represented and implementation, monitoring and reporting of the UNCT’s UNDIS including assisting in monitoring and data gathering on disability within the UN;-Work on disability inclusion analysis and design of joint and agency-driven work on disability inclusion especially for women, girls and young people in line with the Nigeria 2023 -2027 United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation framework(UNSDCF).–; -Work on key cross-cutting issues for disability inclusion digitalization; integration of gender and youth in DI programming and the use of data to draw out implications for disability inclusion. -Provide support (not implementation) to the UNPRPD Inception phase project. Assist in increasing integration of Civil Society and civic groups into the work on the UN, including strengthening links with OPDs networks in Nigeria.
