Background

UN Women is the UN organization dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. UN Women supports UN member states as they set global standards for achieving gender equality and works with governments and civil society to design laws, policies, programmes and services needed to implement these standards. It stands behind women’s equal participation in all aspects of life, focusing on five priority areas: (1) increasing women’s leadership and participation; (2) ending violence against women; (3) engaging women in all aspects of peace and security processes; (4) enhancing women’s economic empowerment; and (5) making gender equality central to national development planning and budgeting. UN women coordinates and promotes the UN system’s work in advancing gender equality.

Ending Violence against Women and Girls is one of the priority areas of UN Women. The Ending Violence against Women Section in New York is part of the Policy Division at UN headquarters, dedicated to providing knowledge-based policy and programming guidance to a diverse array of stakeholders at international, regional and country levels. With an effort to map our impact on Ending Violence Against Women. the EVAW Section will develop a report to track our impact against the SDG’s targets and UN Women’s SP milestones. The report and analysis will be used to improve programming, policy and to help communicate results in ways that support increased funding and public support.

The purpose of this consultancy is to support the EVAW Section to analyse organizational programmatic results for VAW prevention and response, and develop an impact report with data visualizations and infographics related to the institution’s Ending Violence against Women work in 2022. The consultant will be supervised by the Policy Specialist on Knowledge Management, Monitoring, and Reporting.
